Do I come off as angry? I'm not angry, just having a discussion. I haven't blamed any STG residents for anything. It is definately EBR's fault, I havent denied that, but I dont appreciate how their attitude toward EBR residents and saying how the results will be our problem and that we deserve the outcome.

All this could have been avoided. The people of St. George just wanted better schools and wanted an ISD like Central and Zachary. They were told to fly a kite and the only way to do so was form their own city. So thats what they are trying to do.

I don't understand the thinking EBR has great schools and no need for improvement.

Maybe EBR should elect better leaders instead of voting by race only.

They are, by and large, too fricking blinded and acting stupid. The BR residents and government, both.

You come off as exceedingly angry. The results are your problem and you do deserve the outcome. So does every other resident of BR that allowed this comfortable theft to continue for decades. If you are against the theft from your neighbors and don't want to be complicit, leave.

Sorry, big boy times, call for big time actions. If you want to whine and stamp your feet now that you are in this position you'll get no sympathy from me.

What people from Baton Rouge don't understand is that people that don't live here don't care about your crime rate, infrastructure, school performance or culture. We don't wish you ill, but we don't wish you well either. You are nothing more than a source of amusement.

This.

The BR government did this.

The only reason it got this far is because they wouldn’t give them an ISD.

StG called their bluff.

Originally, they didn’t even want an independent school district. They wanted the school board to build more schools in the St. George area, particularly at least 1 (maybe 2) high schools. They were told they’d have to form an independent school district to do that.

I answered the only part of your post that was important. It's interesting that you want to play a little "gotcha game" disputing the numbers, but bray loudly about how badly you're going to get screwed because St George elected to incorporate.

Where are your numbers? How badly are you going to get "screwed" because of the incorporation? Get back to me with that figure and we'll know how much of the theft from St George you're directly responsible for.

Why arent current St George residents taking any blame for electing those same officials who put EBR residents in this position?

Because St. George’s counsel reps opposed the status quo constantly, but were outvoted. The way the district lines are drawn, few districts have St. George residents as a majority of the voters.

Hate that "frick it your problem now" mentality

That's what you people don't understand. It's not all of a sudden BR's problem. Its been their problem for DECADES but it was all covered up and paid for by a very small section of the parish, that didn't get all the services they were funding for the city.
Now that they take their money to work for them, you think they are abandoning the city. But they are only righting for themselves what BR did so wrong for so long.
