The way the mayor and these groups responded to st George gave it more power imo. I’m a br resident and want this to happen now. frick these people.

It can't be worse than the status quo. BR is losing population to LP, AP and out of state.

It can and will be bad for the metro area overall. Baton Rouge will still be the anchor of the region, and this will exacerbate the decay, and make it harder to reverse it. The St. George are and Baton Rouge are symbiotes. Hurting the consolidated government won't be good for anyone.

I don't know, look how large OPSO is and there are no unicorpirated areas of Orleans parish. Even the gravel roads and farms by English Turn coast and the Rigolets entrance is city limits.

That’s been the way this whole process has worked.

Every attempt to slap it down may have hurt it in the short term but helped it in the long term. And then the whole process causing SWB vs Bodi in the mayor race, resulting with SWB as mayor, helped seal the deal.

You think they will need the current level of manpower if this happens? They’ll still be covering Gardere but they won’t need near the number of deputies if their coverage area shrinks.

Yes because they will continue to serve as they currently serve.

The sheriff patrols my neighborhood now, and I’m fine with the service they provide. If I don’t like it I can vote against the sheriff.

I’d just as soon help strengthen the sheriff than send my money to fund s bike study, pay for BRFD pensions or watch City Hall squander it on another green space.

Looking at the map. I see the mall and Seigen marketplace would stay with the city.

They were annexed in after the last St. George attempt, I believe.

Scruffy loves how people are bitching at StG as if they did something wrong.

The only group here who did anything wrong is the BR government.

So to reverse the decay we need yo keep the status quo???

Wake up man, look at what’s happening. I know two developers with projects that went to the mayor for help. Both were asked what’s kn it for NBR?

They got the message.

Yet the people starting StG have deep roots in BR government

This. And a previous post cited Jackson, MS. All true. But we keep being told that we have no facts. Oh well. Minds are made up all around. This short-sighted thinking on both sides is why Louisiana struggles relative to Texas and other areas.

If it passes, I'm seriously thinking of finally giving in and moving out of state. I don't want the additional taxes but more because I'll lose hope that Louisiana can get it $hit together in terms of leadership.

Not as deep SWB and her clowns running it.

So not deep enough.

This will be great for the people in St George but it will devistate the city

Parts of the city are already devastated.

Why should other good citizens sit idly by and do nothing.

I’m in SG, I think we can do better.

Ah, so they did this to themselves?

They refused to give themselves a school district among other things?

Those assholes!

This isn’t hurting the consolidated government. Just like central and Zachary and baker don’t hurt the consolidated government. Quit lying.

The consolidated government won’t survive St. George. Within three years, we will split BR City from EBR Parish government.

Consolidated government makes sense when 90% of Parish residents live inside the city limits.

This isn’t the case.

“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results”. Albert Einstein

I don't live in EBRP anymore but I hope it gets passed!

Something has to change because everyone's taxes in EBRP are going up regardless of what the mayor says at the rate they are spending the tax dollars.

Baton Rouge is on pace to be the next Detriot.

From what I have seen, I think there is a chance that the taxes of those in St. George may stay even or go down.

I look at SG as a last ditch effort. If it works, my wife and I will stay. If not, we'll leave like MANY others have done. And if we leave, it will be out of state and not down I10 to Ascension.
