It did, except for Gadere, which WAS in the 2014 St George plan.
From an outsider looking in, the decision to make the boundary the back yards of the new cookie cutter neighborhoods of the Bluebonnet extension looks bad.
I know why Gadere was left out. They are the areas the people if St george look to avoid. By leaving them on an island, it just looks bad.
The 2018 border at the other side of S. Bluebonnet.

I also notice the mostly black area of unincorporated South Baton Rouge were left out of St. George. (Gadere) I was pretty sure the original St George map ended at the city border. If st George had a ghetto, it would be easier to fight off the racism and country club city comments. The bad they could vote against. The good, that area has potential.
They cut these areas out because they had a low percentage of people that signed the petition in the first attempt. There are some ghetto neighborhoods in the current proposed city. That neighborhood on the corner of O'Neal and S Harrells Ferry is in it.

f it passes, I'm seriously thinking of finally giving in and moving out of state. I don't want the additional taxes but more because I'll lose hope that Louisiana can get it $hit together in terms of leadership.
You won’t be the first, people are leaving EBR Parish now because they are sick of the status quo.
SG is EBR’s last chance, a new city, more local control, and hopefully the key piece, an ISD.
That’s what Texas had and what we need.

Those folks didn’t want in thus they were left out of the last effort.

Personally, to help save BTR some QUICK money, shut down the zoo! For good. Then, sell that land to a plant or some silicon valley company. Close to the airport, tech workers may like having the option of flying "home" pretty easily.
Next, and this may earn a couple downvotes, but, sell the City Park golf course land to a private developer. The expenses to run that place would no longer be needed in the budget, plus, being a pretty prime location, that land being sold would put a lot of money into the city's account immediately...not to mention, the recurring property taxes from the high valued homes that would be built..money coming in year after year.
This is the kind of stupidity I'm talking about.

Problem with closing the zoo and parks is that those serve as jobs programs for Baker and NBR.
Having those facilities there means guaranteed jobs which don’t require getting hired on at a plant or working at a private business which could shut down if they get robbed blind.

I’m happy for all the St. George residents who won’t have to be a part of it.

My office and over 125 employees are in the SG area. You are obviously a smart guy and a thinking person. But, IMO your frustration with BR (legitimate though it may be) makes you blind to what is going to happen with SG passes.

That makes sense.
I have said for years Algiers and NOLA east should form new cities. I get it.

I’m still waiting for that list of duplicate services you mentioned earlier.
What will they be?

So, St George should annex an area which doesn’t want to be annexed and bring in no benefits to the city because racism?
You’re fricking retarded.
Only reason they were in last time was that L’Auberge and other areas around it were going to be in.

. If you don't like it, leave. No government is perfect, especially not in Louisiana, and politics will influence the decisions of every city here no matter what it is named.
What a horrible, myopic view.
Baton Rouge is one of the most dysfunctional cities in the United States. The idea that the area can’t improve with change is absurd.

since the map shows the boundaries going around my neighborhood, and I'm in BR limits, what are the chances down the road that we can leave BR and join StG? I literally see everyone in our pocket of BR jumping ship if this goes through.

It will end up being a failure on all levels.
The problems of the carved out city will not go away and will have just as much an impact on the new St. George as well.
Good luck!

Not technically, but effectively this is exactly what it is. Splitting off the school board, splitting off from some (not all) city-parish services, etc.

Someone from BREC is probably reading this and thinking, "hey, frick you buddy! We have our own money and aren't part of this 45% budget cut."
