Thanks.
Appreciate everyone's help!
Will go with shrimp for sure. Hardheads would be good crab trap bait at least.
There is a spotlight on the dock for fishing. We are not opposed to fishing at night in the hopes of a good yield!

Fishing/Crabbing Bay of Bay St. Louis

Posted by LSUTigahs18 on 6/10/24 at 11:25 am
Renting a camp in later part of July in Pass Christian. Camp is on the South side of BSL between Mallini Bayou and Bayou Portage with a nice fishing pier.

What is the fishing and crabbing like in that area? I plan to leave a cage in the water just for the heck of it regardless (opposite side from where the kids swimming will take place of course). Any suggestions on tackle for pier fishing from the camp?

Thanks for the replies and tips.

We are going to fish the barge island and beuaregard island and see if there is a way to drop a trap. But i'm pretty resolved to the fact that i'll be getting crabs from Carmadelles :)

OP get some turkey necks for the nets, go hit one of the small islands north of the island like Beauregard. Those islands have bayous that cut through them. I’ve seen crabs swimming in and out of them when the tides rolling. Probably could get a hamper quote easily. You may get a lot of females. Just make sure they aren’t in the berry stage

Thanks. This is the information I was looking for. Should I run them around the bayou points of the island for moving water? It's shallow enough at points to anchor and get out and set the lines to run?

If tide is right, may be able to hook a few while running nets too

I don’t want that karma of going through someone else’s traps. Or the ensuing slugfest lol

Grand Isle - Crabbing question

Posted by LSUTigahs18 on 5/14/19 at 9:46 pm
I’ve been to GI many times. Love fishing and crabbing in the surf running nets and setting traps.

We typically go in July-August when the crabs are running. But we are headed there next weekend for Memorial Day.

Last year a fishing guide was telling us that in the back of the island only reachable by boat there is a spot where crabs run year round. I feel confident i won’t catch any crabs on the beach this early, but would love to catch and boil some while there. Can anyone shed any light on this magic location?Point it out on a map, is it overnight traps or can we anchor the boat and run lines there, etc?

Any help would be appreciated!

I’m not 100% sure it will be a success. But I am 100% sure that EBR and BR City will continue to rot in decay so long as the the status quo remains.

We are one of the highest taxed localities in the country with absolutely nothing to show for it. Our Mayor is incompetent and her administration hands out public money to friends under the guise of community contracts. Half the City Council isn’t intelligent enough to be a part-time manager at Chili’s. The city steals $50 million dollars a year from the unincorporated are to pad its budget and it still has nothing to show for it. EBR schools are one of the worst in the country, as is our infrastructure. And because of this, we can’t attract any kind of business to the area outside of Petrochemical - which doesn’t want to hang around.

We are a dying city.

We are not dying. That's being over dramatic.

Where was all the outcry during the Mayor's election? Where was the strong push for another candidate? White is not a strong candidate (and who's behind the StG charge).

Every candidate in every office ever has to pay back the people that put them in. That's politics 101. Not a mark against Broome.

Infrastructure and education as much a state issue as it is city. That's what is behind this push and there is little to no data that will or can show these will improve. The city cant even work on roads that belong to the state. The private schools in EBR are excellent.

Change for the sake of change doesn't equate improvement. The time, effort, and money in StG would have been better used pushing strong candidates for public office.

Baton Rouge is one of the most dysfunctional cities in the United States. The idea that the area can’t improve with change is absurd.

Based on what?

Anyone can improve with change.

This plan isn't a change. This plan is an overhaul.

What makes you so confident this will be a success? Because of all of your perceived BR failures? Asinine.

The only group here who did anything wrong is the BR government.

Yet the people starting StG have deep roots in BR government
It's hilarious to me that so many people magically trust this same St. George leadership that has failed over and over again in previous positions of power.

This plan has serious holes in it. You are naive or stupid if you don't see budget instability in their plan (whichever one you want to look at).

But hey, they have a group of people trying to be trendy and starting to call the area St. George now, so at least a few people are listening.

Some of us have been in South Baton Rouge for decades. It's never been referred to as St. George. Those that support StG knew how it was before they moved here. If you don't like it, leave. No government is perfect, especially not in Louisiana, and politics will influence the decisions of every city here no matter what it is named.

Onward with copycat movements though!
He has plenty of tape of Canada's offense to know what he would be getting into, and he has enough of LSU's tape this year to know how unstable the situation is at LSU.

He comes to LSU, he has a much better chance of playing time in the next few years than at Georgia.

Even if you are terrible at face to face negotiating, this is the best practice. Unless you are being completely unreasonable, this always works well.
Perhaps now the fraternities can stay at an LSU football for longer than 1 quarter since they wont have anything else to do?
