It’s terrible here.
Pretty clean.
Crime is low.
People have a good quality of life.

Correct. The confusion comes in because the Covington zip code has 60,000 people. 50,000 people with Covington addresses don't live in the actual city limits. They live in unincorporated St. Tammany.

The city of Covington lies between two rivers … hence we call it the "island." Those of us who live in Covington proper really don't want to "leave the island." As the mayor says, "If I can't get there on my golf cart I don't want to go."

I-12 "Covington" is not in Covington.

In Covington, stay at the southern

In abita, stay at the hotel (Airbnb), same

you stay at hotels 20-25 miles from your house?

Zig zag through the neighborhood next time you're in the area. It hasn't looked better in my lifetime.

The mayor ain't wrong and I've lived in the area my entire life except for a 6-7 year stint in GA.

There seems to be a neighborhood of ugly, crowded small homes when you drive down the highway and pass Waffle House (I think) heading to Folsom. And 2 more cramped neighborhoods going up not far from there. With one street in and out to all for the 2nd area. I can’t imagine what a cluster that will be traffics and flooding wise. It may not be Nola low cost, but I’ve heard folks say “low cost” for these developments.

Should have seen it pre Katrina before all the assholes from NewO moved there. Or even better in the early 90s and before.

Once upon a time when driving across the bridge to enter Covington you could glimpse the magnificent estate of Clem Kelly. At the time he had the world’s largest collection of antique weapons outside of major museums. A collection of medals, heraldry, and ribbons from the beginning of time rested in air sealed cabinets in his vault. A giant of a human and a truly nice man. Old Covington. Before Katrina.

I know a young lady who is always ranting. She says it used to be like country, but now so crowded, it takes an hour to move down the road. Reminds me of Central on a larger scale. It was once nice and quiet and the the “country.” Too many people now and the criminals finding their way.

If they were smart, they’d shut down new building and none of these low cost neighborhoods.

Last council election, I voted for the only rep in my district who said he'd at least attempt to slow down growth and put requirements and moratoriums on construction.

He finished 3rd out of 3. We get what we vote for.

What a beautiful little town. Everybody was nice, the place was clean and I didn't smell weed at every red light. I despise Baton Rouge even more today. You baws keep that place beautiful out there.

Amazing, huh... This is what life is like for those that live out of state.

Sad. I don’t live over there, but hate to see what it is becoming. It’s still so pretty and peaceful. You did your part.
