Well, the Birmingham area stayed too warm for snow. Plenty of light to moderate rain, and some sleet, but not much more than that. Where I live north of Birmingham only got down to 35.4 degrees. 6 degrees lower and we might have gotten a decent snow.

Good rule of thumb on roads: need 24 hours sub freezing temps ahead of precip to lower the surface temps for accumulation.

North Alabama has gotten more than I expected. It is still snowing with big flakes. If it wasn't melting, we'd have an inch, probably.

looks like models are hinting at another cold blast coming around Jan 23rd.

Looks like some places in west and northwest Alabama did pretty well. With warmer soil temperatures, you really need it to snow pretty hard and for a longer time to get it to finally start sticking.

If you don't want to possibly kill someone... At least knock some snow off of the vehicle.

My daughter had 3 inches on her car (or so she said; I couldn't tell from pics) in Oxford.

So freaking jealous...snow is the only good thing about northern winters but I've been stuck staring at brown grass for months...and of course the piles of years old salt sitting unused.

I do remember a foot falling while I was at State and Suttle emptied out with people grabbing what they could to slide down that huge hill across the street. It warmed up and was gone by the next afternoon.

Better for her to have had 3 inches on it than in it?
