Push full retirement back to 68. Also push min age to receive benefits from 62 to 65.
I would also push Medicare back to 68.
For those of you who want a refund, lol
Best we could reasonably do is some kind of limited nonrefundable tax credit. Something like a 50k lifetime max, max per year of 5k, starting at age 67.

I mean, that's the whole idea, in theory. The government takes your money and invests it for you, so there is more of it later.

Go ahead, end the program but give me all my damn money back first.

It was never intended to operate this way, and never has. There is no "lockbox." What came out of your check on the 15th was sent to do someone on SS immediately. "Your money" was gone before your direct deposit even hit.

Your money doesn’t exist anymore.
It was used to keep the Ponzi scheme afloat.
You need the next generation to support you.

should have privatized it back when GWB wanted to.

You want to talk about creating generations of wealth? That was how to do it.

I mean we already have welfare

It is hilarious how everyone rails about SS constantly, but they are unwilling to accept the sacrifice so that the next generations don’t have to carry the burden.
You won’t be able to survive with the pittance they will send you monthly?
Did you not plan accordingly?
A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they will never sit in.

The uniparty will push for a tax on unrealized gains to keep SS solvent.

you know it is a broken program.
You know it is a massive Ponzi scheme.
You know it is a massive economic impact on younger generations because you went through it.
You know it needs to be abolished.
But you have to get yours even though you know all of that.
If that isn’t greed, I don’t what is.
You know these people have contributed tons of money to this program and you (as a taxpayer) want to end it so that you don't have to pay up and do it right?
That sounds a lot like greed.

You’re assuming they act logically and with the public’s best interest in mind.

You never have to raise taxes to fix anything.
Posted on 3/20/26 at 12:52 pm to TTB
It’s been talked about forever. But no, it has never been “it ran out of money” that just never emerged.

As a matter of fact, I will gladly pay for the next 40 years and never receive a dime so that the generations after mine, my daughter’s generation, will never have to pay a single dime into the system.
And there is no “doing it right”.
SS is a broken system.
