Then what do you want? It’s going down, debt going up, there isn’t 40% cuts to govt anywhere else and even if there was, would take decades to figure out and execute which by then we’re so far in debt and interest payments will drown us even if we cut ss

I can’t imagine trying to actually live on a Social Security payment.

I beg to differ.. there are many places in S America, Asia and others where a monthly SS check of even just $1800 or $2300 per month will allow you to live very VERY well.. that’s my plan, and i wont even need to touch my 401k or other investments .. that said, id still be ok with the Fed returning the money ive paid into SS via a lump sum .

I'm not asking for anyone to pay anything. The government needs to unfrick this situation, but they never will and couldn't give two shits.

Then again, we keep funding Amtrak and the USPS when they are insolvent every year.

They'll print money until the dollar is worth a square of toilet paper.

This is even more fricked up. Screwing American youth for you to retire outside of America where you can’t see the damage.

Boomers ffs

Bro you’re asking for evaluation of programs that are so insignificant that even if we got rid of them entirely, would not move the needle.

Even if we got rid of military spend, I think it takes decades to bring back to track

I'd like for you to stop being such a tard and calling SS a handout for starters. You aren't intellectually equipped to have this conversation, just go back to stupid boomer jokes.

You offer no reasonable solutions because you know you’re grifting from young Americans and the future

Leave it to people least prepared financially to cry the most about it. Shouldn’t have wasted the greatest decades being an ignorant twat

That's right and we weren't given a choice either. That goes for young people to, they should get back whatever they put in also if the program was killed, if not it's straight up theft

I would give that all up for the sake of my child’s future and for them to never have to pay into it again.

Yall are some greedy fricks, IMO.

I’m asking you where does this money come from then? If we had money this wouldn’t be a problem

It’s super obvious some of you never had to budget money before

grifting

You keep using words that you clearly have no idea what they mean

quote:

For an average earner retiring in 2020 at age 65, estimated lifetime Social Security contributions were roughly $367,000, with estimated payouts of $383,000

What amazing grift to make almost no return on decades of contributions. What a handout. You are too stupid to understand this.

Just keep downvoting BTJ, it's all your dumbass can handle doing

Why do so many fools believe the "lockbox" bullshite? Your "contribution" was sent to someone else as soon as it came out of your check.

Vicious cycle:

1. Get SS benefits from younger gen
2. Put younger gen to debt with high cost of housing and education
3. Younger gen less likely to be employed and contributing to taxes
4. Profit

You guys live in some kind of fantasy land. Neither party in power has any appetite to piss off older voters.

Yet OASDI tax has been rapidly increasing since 2020. Gone from 137k in 2020 to 184k, insanity. That’s almost 50k!
