It's not a good life having people do double takes and openly stare at you the rest of your life.

I don't think the OP was suggesting it couldn't, the point was he didn't die otherwise the OP's hypothetical wouldn't exist.

Back in the 1700s, the authorities in New Orleans put a corpse on trial for supposedly hanging themself outside the main government building. Like the actual body was on trial and I think was dumped in the river as punishment or something.
In 897 a dead pope was put on trial. They dug up the corpse, convicted it, and threw it into the Tiber. Then the corpse washed up and was buried again. Would’ve been fun if the corpse beat the charge.
Called the Cadaver Synod.

My friend Paul had his brother put a .22 to his forehead and pulled the trigger. Killed him.
Had a cousin put a .22 between his eyes. Instantly dead.
I would never use a gun. Running a hose from the tailpipe to the cab of a vehicle seems way more pleasant and effective.

Before you do, make sure to wear a respirator with a double cartridge for organic vapor and particulates.
That smell will kill you.

None. Die. Peacefully.
Take the pits of 5 cherries and grind them in a coffee grinder and make the powder into a tea before you go to sleep. Cyanide is an easy way to go. No one walks into your brains all over you just dead in a bed.

If the person were arrested and convicted, the county parish or state would be responsible for that person's care.
No arrest? Family is stuck finding a facility that can care for that person in whatever diminished state that person has ended up in. And the cost goes to the person's estate, etc.

The girl I recently wrote about who intentionally jumped off a fire tower and screwed herself up physically didn’t get prosecuted. Probably because the permanent damage and obvious psychological problems are punishment enough.
I would imagine some jurisdictions being hesitant based on psychological issues like a plea of temporary insanity.

If you don’t use a gun you live life realizing how selfish suicide would’ve been & you learn to ride the waves of life.

This happened to a kid I went to middle school with. He was drugging out. By 8th grade he walked with a major limp and a cane. His head shot missed the mark but messed up some of his motor skills. So sad.

Is the person Auburn fan? If so I’m sure it would be time served.

Surviving is a lot more common than people think. People aren't in the right frame of mind and are often doing something they are unfamiliar with, For example some people put a pistol in their mouth aimed upward but don't account for the kickback on a loosely held gun and the bullet goes through the top of the forehead instead of the brain stem, basically giving themselves a labotomy.
