The Corpus Christi bridge is almost like the bridge over Lake Charles.

So now I suddenly have a fear of bridges
I developed that fear about 6 years ago while driving over the Mississippi Rover bridge in Natchez. No idea why.
The old Vicksburg bridge as I recall was one lane each way, with train tracks on one side.

What is the point of having it humped like that? If it is purely aesthetic....I don't get it
Large ships pass beneath
The OG skyway bridge collapsed. It was hit by a large vessel. As fun as driving the skyway is now, imagine riding over the half that was still in tact, and looking at the half missing a huge portion that suddenly fell into the water.
But yeah. That fricker is high. I tend to stay in the left lane, as it’s on the inside. And no, I’m not speeding over that fricker, so you’ll just have to stay at 5 over, or pass to the right.
There have been talks of making a larger bridge, or possibly a tunnel, as newer cruise ships are getting larger.

In the past 5 years I have developed something almost like a panic attack when going over bridges. Doesn't bother me if I look straight ahead but if I glance out to the side sometimes my heart will start racing

I have a fear of tunnels. The bridge at Lake Charles never bothered me. After hurricane Laura, I might not go up that bridge any more.
Sounds like the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel is just the thing you're looking for.

For sailors coming home, that bridge was a very welcome sight. I lived not for from it on the VA Beach side.

The ole High Five at US 75 and 635 in Dallas.... Those tall one lane express lanes suck!
I was in the Tampa/St Pete area about three years ago and they shut that Skyway Bridge down for a 5k or marathon race. After driving across that SOB I sure wouldn't walk or run on that bitch!

That was my #9 of 10 longest bridges in the US. Still have to do the San Mateo-Hayward bridge out in San Fran for #10.

Now for some reason I look at this pic and all I want to do is take an elevator to the top and come down it on a foam pool float with the biggest shite-eatin grin ever on my face

(P.S....as long as I didn't go over the side)

Oh I did have a dream where I was driving on this one lane way up and it kept getting more and more narrow with my dog and me in the care alone. I kept looking back telling him we would be ok but I was trying to convince myself haha
