re: Annual Trout Trip - Grand Isle

Ahh. Meh. We started at Elmer’s - had a boat literally every 50 yards between Elmer’s and Fourchon. Caught 1 there

From there, ran to some islands north of grand isle. Caught a ton of specks. Only 15 keepers tho. Catch ratio is about 15 non - 1 keeper.

Annual Trout Trip - Grand Isle

A couple buddies and I are scheduled for our annual trout trip to Grand Isle - Friday. Was curious how the bite has been. I know the wind/weather hasn't been favorable thus far. Forecast is looking promising for Friday. We typically launch at Sand Dollar and fish 4 bayou area. Haven't done very well the last couple years, though. Any tips would be greatly appreciated !

SE La - Freshwater fishing - During the summertime pattern, Full Moons are the best.
If you can get out there - they are biting.

Had a guy in a bass boat today. And it appeared to be very rough.

Curious
Crossed the causeway today for work. Saw at least 20 boats. Trout fishing ? Or sheephead ? Water looked muddy.

These dudes get confused when we shift all over the damn place. Aren’t ready for that. Need to get back to the basics.
I actually tried a few different kast king models. They’ve worked great so far this spring.

Most folks were saying Milam is lazy and doesn’t wanna play a couple days ago.

I agree. But I feel like that’s always how he looked.
Yep. I leave it on in my office. I like watching wheeler fish. Dude is a machine.
Hunted white lake a couple weeks ago.

So this for the first time - came across a single snow goose in the marsh that looked lost. Could have grabbed him. White lake guide said probable avian flue. Crazy.

Unfortunately, good leases don’t come available. Even the expensive ones.
ive heard of some folks who just purchased some land in st charles parish that are having a rough time with the previous land owner regarding the mineral rights - as well as the land that was enrolled in wrp. I guess all that can get messy.
Bayou black. Limits on Saturday. Teal and ringnecks.

Didn’t fire a shot this morning. Crazy.

Ryan Perriloux was the best athletic qb I’ve seen in this area. This guy is a little taller. Not sure he has the arm Ryan had tho. Looks like an elite prospect though.

I pluck most duck that we kill. We do shoot 85% ringnecks. If you want just the breast meat, filet it off the skin like a fish. It’s not hard.

Ringneck isn't a fish eater. Very good eating bird. Shoot them all day.

Dosgris/Scaup is a fish eater and can be very oily. Don't really care for them. Early season spoonies are fine to eat.
