re: When We Had a Real Tiger Mascot

I remember hearing the story (from quiet a few years ago) where they were transporting Mike (to maybe a close road game) and the lock on the cage came undone but the gate remained closed but he could have gotten out going down the road. Imagine that scenario ??

In the 80's some Tulane fans let Mike out of his cage and he was wandering around Nicholson Hwy for a bit before they caught him in Bernie Moore stadium.

Are we talking about Baker or JD Vance?

So the SEC is corrupt and LSU is the chosen victim? Why is that?

It has been clear for years that the SEC protects teams with the best shot at a championship.

Usually that has included Alabama. If we're honest, a few times LSU was protected during our championship runs, but never to this level.

I'm not saying the refs cost us the game. But it is blatantly obvious that we had a chance for a huge upset and we were put under the microscope while everything Bama did was ignored.

I used to think like you. However, research shows that although ACT scores correlate with IQ, they DON' T correlate with college graduation. High school GPA's do correlate with college graduation rates
If by " One of us" you mean " from South Louisiana" then that limits you too much. Even that doesn't help you particularly in North Louisiana. How many Cajun national championship caliber college football coaches do you suppose there are?

Someone who understands the Southern United States would be preferable however.
It seems to be a curse or burden more than an incentive.
It's not as important in this era as it used to be, but I think it's still important. You've got to be able to go to that family and convince them that LSU is the place for their son. Saban is an a-hole but he could do that.

I think the fit issue with Kelly is that he was used to coaching smarter players at Notre Dame. We don't get the smartest, we get athletic players who have to be taught.

Another issue is that Kelly can't seem to evaluate the team or its players accurately. He hasn't adjusted to the level of competition in the SEC. He thinks we're ready or good and we suck.

He would not have come for 5 years

And we would have been better off.
I agree. Kelly isn't realizing the level of SEC play. He seems to keep thinking he's got this and we get embarrassed.

In addition to other recruiting issues, in year 3 why don't we have an at least serviceable backup QB? Nuss is obviously reverting back to his reckless poor decision making and we have no alternative. What was Kelly going to do if he got injured, forfeit?

Whether you call it a RPO or not, it's either a pass or the SAME run play every time where the QB NEVER runs. That can't work.

How is it that Kelly seems to grossly overestimate LSU's capability every year? Every year a different group is the best he's ever seen, then that group is the problem.

It seems that either he sucks at evaluating teams or he can't adjust to a higher level of competition.

re: Matt House owes Jayden Daniels an apology

I think Kelly owes him. Kelly is the one that hired House.
What do ypu expect them to say, the truth?

"The officiating crew did a good job of protecting any chance of an SEC team to make the playoffs, as is their job"

The refs were a problem last night. Our D was also a problem last night. Why can’t both be true?

Exactly! Why can't some people see this?
It seemed last season that it took our defense several possessions to begin to click, like they had to see what the offense was doing. Then they seemed to get better.

That isn't happening now.

Say what you will about Miles, but his staff could flat out find, evaluate and recruit talent.

Except quarterbacks.
I agree that Daniels played better against GA because he was injured. It forced him to throw the ball when his inclination is to run.

To me it's a toss up. I think Daniels has peaked and Nuss might be coming around but u don't know.

I will try to trust Kelly to make the right decision but LSU had a history of that not happening.
I think Kelly will play Daniels if he is able. He partly made us what we are this year. He is the conservative safer choice. Daniels will be here next year. We aren't even sure we want him as our first string QB, why would a pro team want him? He is what he is at this point.

Nussmeier has more potential which could be developed. I don't see Kelly taking that chance. He is too afraid of turning over the ball, like someone else we know.

As much as I like Kelly, it is concerning that he hasn't found a way to fix this yet. That shows a Les Miles level of inattention and stubbornness.

I understand that Polian may have to officially be an on field coach, but at least bring in an expert to teach him how to coach special teams and to work with them off the field.
