Very sorry to hear about your situation. I know the holidays can be an expensive time of year with kids. I would love to pick up a gift for each of your kids if possible.

There's a difference in using assistance when it is legitimately needed vs abusing it and being a leech.

Assistance in instances such as yours are awesome and as a society we should all support it for this situation and others that are similar. We should not support it for those that contribute nothing.

Best of luck to you!

You do not suck, you are in REAL need which is what Public Assistance is for.

Good luck and God bless.

There are also churches that help in these kinds of situations. How old are your kids?

No you don't suck...you are a perfect example of why the program exist and why the help is available. No need to tell the kids either. Back in '05, I had a medical condition that required 120 days of treatment and I wasn't able to work. I had to do the same thing for about 4-6 months. I felt embarrassed but you will overcome it. I still have that old EBT card in a desk drawer at home to remind me of how bad it got for me. Just said a prayer for you...keep your head up.

Your situations is part of the reason that food stamps should exist. Unfortunately, the majority of people who are on them are abusing it.

I second this.... OP, keep your chin up. I am more than willing to contribute my tax dollars to help people when they fall on hard times. I believe in the social safety net, it is the leaches that lay on that net from cradle to grave that frustrate me. You shouldn’t be embarrassed to tell your kids. They may not understand everything right now but one day they will have a lot of respect for you as they see you work out of this tough time.

Not sure how to do it, but I want to help contribute to a Christmas fund for you and your family. Figure out a way for me to contribute.

Nothing to be embarrassed. You've worked your entire life, paying taxes. This sort of assistance is meant for people in your situation.

YMCA when you get a chance go to your Unemployment office and see if there are any programs for people in your situation where you cant work in your normal capacity. I work with a guy who had 5 back surgeries and the state paid for him to get a drafting degree. Hes now employed as a draftsman making good money.

Good luck with everything, take in every blessing you reveive..... you deserve it!
