OP, don't stress it. When I became disabled, I was told to apply for SSD. Done put 30 years at the job. Went in and I cried like a baby knowing that I would never be able to return to the work force. My life flash in front me eyes. The second most disappointing time in my life.
Talk to your family, it could help some.
Food stamp program is what it was set up for in your case.

no, get well, fight the good fight.

No, you don’t suck. Sounds like you’ve just fallen on hard times. Drop all unnecessary spending and work on your health. You’ll get back on your feet.
Your kids can tell if you’re worried. Talk to them and let them know how they can help you and each other. It’s a good time to teach them the real costs of food and necessities. You can still have fun with the kids for very little money - camp for vacation or tend a vegetable garden.
Are any of your kids old enough to work?
Stay positive.

Those safety nets are there to help, if you need them use it. Pride shouldn’t come in the way and don’t listen to anyone on here that gives you shite about it, it’s easy to talk tough and look down on others but if push came to shove they would use the service as well. I hope your fortunes change for you but in the meantime take care of yourself and don’t think of yourself as any less than you did beforehand.

I appreciate the encouraging words. I guess I never thought something like this would happen and I’m a little upset at myself for not being more prepared. I was told my carotid artery was all jacked up and they think it was the result of a wreck I had 10 plus years ago. For some reason it just now caused problems.
And whoever said I made a bad decision on where I put my penis, you have no idea. Anytime a man gets the kids in a divorce where no one cheated, I don’t pay her any money and she wasn’t cracked out, should tell you how crazy she was.

Hold your chin up high. No shame in your situation, could consider going to a church or food pantry if that would feel better. Best of luck!

I’ve been on them before also bro, take care of those kids.

Those programs are there for when bad thing happen to people, doesn't mean you suck.
People that bitch about those programs bitch about those on them who don't try. That isn't you.

Your situation is what welfare is for.
Big difference in your situation and a lot of the situations the result in food stamps.

No. Situations like yours are what safety net programs are supposed to be for. It’s the people who crank out 8 kids and then don’t work that are the issue.
Praying for you and your family.

You're the situation welfare should be used... the problem is the pieces of shite who can work and treat welfare like a fricking paycheck

Dude, it takes a bigger man to admit it. Everyone has tough times and you have 3 kids. You do whatever you have to, make sure they are taken care of.
That doesn't make you a loser.
What happened is beyond your control.

It's a safety net, not a lifestyle.
