In the OT’s opinion, am I a no good piece of shite loser(I feel like I am).
I have a good job and I’ve always worked. The problem is that I had 4 mini strokes the first week in September and haven’t been able to work since. I tried but the dr won’t release me. I had surgery at the start of this month to correct the problem and they couldn’t do it. I go next week to Birmingham so another dr can give it a shot. Best case scenario, the second surgery works and ’m out another 4-6 weeks. I didn’t want to apply for help, but I’m a single father of 3 and the money I have saved up will only last so long. I haven’t told my kids bc I’m embarrassed. Also, I don’t want them to worry. It’s been tough enough on them as it is. So, do I suck?
(Update)First off, thanks for all of the encouraging replies. It def put things into perspective. Pride can be a bitch. I’m coming to you now for prayers form those that believe and a you got this from those that don’t. I’m back in Birmingham for another surgery this week. Hopefully it’ll go well bc the last time I was here the Dr informed me that I need to find a new career. He said he won’t release me back into the field of construction regardless of the surgery outcome. That was his reply to me asking for a release for light duty. He told me I can’t lift over 5lbs for the near furure. I told him I always wanted to sit and pee and now I have an excuse. He didn’t find that funny. I was just trying to use humor to make the situation a little easier on myself. There’s nothing like being told to make a career change at the age of 41 when you’re a single father of 3. I just keep telling myself things could be worse and to stay positive. I’ll try and update as the week goes. Thanks again.

No, just get the help you need. It's what it's there for, so use it.

I say do what you need to do to feed your family. No shame in that.

Food stamps are there for people like you, not the asses that abuse the system. Do what you have to do for your kids. I would

People like you are the reason government assistance exist. It's a stop gap when in need, not an occupation. You pay taxes to fund it on every paycheck so use it.

No.
Who cares what any of these losers think, anyway.
Get well.

Sounds like you made bad decisions on who you stuck your penis in

Do what you gotta do. Don't need to impress all the douches on the OT.

You are the reason food stamps should exist.
Not the human detritus that counts them as regular entitlement income.

You shouldn’t be embarrassed for asking for help to provide for your kids
That’s what it’s there for, to help people when they fall on hard times
Don’t stress on it & listen to your Dr., your health needs to come first
Good luck, hope things start looking up soon

These programs are there for these type situations. I would probably feel the same because of my pride. But pride won't feed your family. I'll say a prayer for you and your family! God Bless!

You have already paid for Food Stamps in the taxes you pay yearly.
The system was designed to be used this way, not to stay on it permanently unless a person is unable to work.
Be thankful it is available. There is so much abuse of these gov't programs, that one day it might not be there.
You have a legitimate reason to get the Food Stamps, it would be unfair to your family if you did not receive this benefit you've already paid for.
