I just saw the following headline:

"Man and his dog stabbed multiple times in West Lake Forest area, NOPD says"

Things are looking up. Mayor Cantrell was on Face the Nation the other day with an update. She seems very optimistic about the future and says things are improving daily.

Working? Not horrible if in one of the nicer office buildings with self contained garage, security, if that’s even ones thing. Still some risk coming and going.

Living there? Hard pass.

Honestly, we need more job / employer details. Is the office located in the central business district (Superdome area / Orleans Parish), somewhere in Metairie (Jefferson Parish) or on the Northshore (Covington/Mandeville) ? Seriously .... location, location, location means everything concerning places to live, commute, and what areas are safe.

Look, there's a REALLY GOOD CHANCE that your niece won't get murdered there. However, there's a better chance of her getting murdered there than anywhere else in America... so weigh the good with the bad.

Just tell her not to go into NO East, Gentilly, Midcity, CBD, Bywater, Central City, the French Quarter or Uptown and she'll be fine.

There’s no way I would encourage any family member to work or live in New Orleans.

A pedophile would be safer in prison genpop than you would be in New Orleans.

Hope that helps.

She should be looking at safer cities like Port Au Prince, Detroit, and East St Louis.

the board is going to collectively tell you that you need to start prepping for her funeral.

the truth is if she has common sense she will be fine.

work in NO, dont live in NO, know where you are going when in NO proper, dont frick around.

Been living in Metairie for 6 years now and work in NO downtown and not once felt afraid, had any crime issues, car broken into, etc.
We've all seen this movie:

This board is going to make it sound like she is taking a job in Afghanistan but really as long as she stays out of the ghetto she will be fine. For the most part the thugs are killing each other, not hard working residents. Vehicle break ins are a whole different story though. That's happening all over Orleans parish.

The mayor sounds like she's on top of things there. I'm sure it's fine.

Oh she’s on top of things. Pretty sure he was a subordinate to her.

I graduated and moved here in 2021. I'll be looking to move out of the state sometime this year. There's a lot of other factors that go into this, but if she has comparable offers in other cities I would recommend she look at those. But you never know, I have some friends that love it here and may never leave.
