My niece just got out of college and got offered a job out there. I am not from around the area and do not work in the area. How bad is this place right now?

It's super safe late night. Especially if you walk alone and are a female.

Not bad enough that she shouldn’t take a job in NO but Bad enough that you should recommend she live in Jefferson Parish bc they actually enforce the law.

As opposed to what? Kenner? Dallas? Mogadishu?

(It’s worse than any of those BTW.)

I had always planned on my kids following in my wife and I's footsteps going to NOLA high schools. The current trajectory of the city has me second guessing that. I'd feel safer with them elsewhere, and I have little faith in the voters to put anyone in place to fix this shithole.

The mayor sounds like she's on top of things there. I'm sure it's fine.

Is it a job she really wants and/or a great opportunity, or just a job?

the board is going to collectively tell you that you need to start prepping for her funeral.

the truth is if she has common sense she will be fine.

work in NO, dont live in NO, know where you are going when in NO proper, dont frick around.

Been living in Metairie for 6 years now and work in NO downtown and not once felt afraid, had any crime issues, car broken into, etc.

I'd tell her to put it in the "if everything else for the next 3 years doesn't work out" file.

Fresh out of college probably has a couple other options than NOLA right now.

Well that settles it. The city is better than ever. She has nothing to worry about.
