1. Is she willing to give up a vacation(s) to get a bigger ring?
2. Is she willing to sell her car and downgrade to something smaller to afford a bigger ring?
3. Is she willing to get a job/second job to pay for her ring?

If the answer to those three questions are no, then tell her you’re done listening to her BS about a ring. Her envy isn’t your problem and you aren’t going to make it your problem.

My wife goes to “the gym” 5 times per week, and has done so for many years (even before we got married). OPs problem isn’t the gym, it’s an insecure wife. Is part of her insecurity his fault? Probably, especially if they’ve been married for a while.

Just tell her a worthy wife could have a rubber band for a ring and be happy bc it's the marriage that should matter. Not the diamond.
