Holy $hit. Security cannot even provide a description of the shoplifter or specify what was stolen.

If you were to do that they would have a full description and the cops would pummel you.

This is how you get “deserts” in urban areas.

Coming to all of urban America? Probably.
Rural America? Doubtful.
I think small towns will continue to beef up law enforcement based on the "not in my town" sentiment. That's what's happened where I live in the rural South.
We're not putting up with third-world behavior here. Also noteworthy that a handful of our local cops here (and probably lots of places) are people who got sick of how they were treated in big cities and came here where people actually expect them to enforce the law. For the ones I know, I'd say they're good to have around because they've just seen more than some of the local guys who haven't dealt with big city crime. Makes me wonder who's left to police the big cities?
But yeah, urban USA is cooked.

San Francisco is the utopia the Democrat Party wants for the whole nation.
ETA: OT “moderates” will down vote this. But what they can’t do is refute it.

It will, but when it hit hard in conservative areas, that's when the next civil war will start.

Same policies as the store that just left south Chicago. Just a different group of thieves doing it.

I don't see the big deal.
I am right alongside them.
Donate the stuff back and gets so much in tax write-offs.
Screw the big businesses that screw us right back.

Done for many reasons but one is so they can say they've had a decrease in crime. On paper If it goes unreported and police don't make an arrest, it didn't happen.
"San Francisco is experiencing a significant, sustained decline in theft and violent crime, continuing a multi-year downward trend. Police data highlights historic lows across major property and violent crime categories, reflecting broad improvements in public safety."

This comment:
Of course it is down if the retailer has no reason to report it

The funny part is how easy it is to find the data showing that Shoplifting is actually down. And San Francisco got there faster than many major cities.
