This rule will kill the instantaneous water heater industry. to get the an 100kBTU gas water heater in electric, you need 29kWh of electric power (slightly less do to electric more efficient)
instantaneous water heaters save energy because you are not heating water in a tank 24/7 that slowly cools off.

I can’t decide which state is worse, California or New York. An epic battle.

“Natural gas is our cleanest fossil [fuel] and it is responsible for the U.S. reducing carbon dioxide emissions more than other country, largely because we have centuries of the stuff.” said Dan Kish a senior fellow at the Institute for Energy Research. “God blessed North America with enormous energy wealth, and our only impediment is power-hungry politicians who want to make energy more expensive and more foreign, while bossing Americans around by telling them how to heat their homes and what kind of car they can drive.”
I like this guy.

it was considering banning gas stoves nationwide, allegedly due to the effects of such appliances on the environment.

I think the latest round of banners is worried about indoor air pollution.
I guess everyone has to have something to be mad at.

Because what we need in a housing affordability crisis is more regulation on new home construction.

and this is how the policy making process works in America now.
An industry creates a trade association which forms a Pac to buy off politicians and funds a Think Tank to create "research" and "science" that favors the industry.
The Think Tank pushes some bullshite like gas appliances are killing the earth and humans. The bought off politicians then push it into the ecosystem. MSNBC, FACEBOOK and all the other dutiful echo chamber entities take the cue and repeat it verbatim and allow it spread on their platform.
Then local and state level politicians take the lead in order to up their PROGRESSIVE bonafides, increase their star and become a member of the political class that gets to be bought off.

Homes are going to need load shedding switchboards before long.
They probably will & I’m sure they’ll have to be “SMART”
Guess who will have control and decide for you?

So I guess everyone should go full on 19th century install a wood stove. Because that never polluted any old European or American cities
They already banned new wood stoves

MY SIL bought new construction in a new development in Tennessee. No gas appliances and no gas lines run to the house... We figured one less cost of a gas line run to the development. But I guess this is where things are going...
When I bought my house there was an electric stove/cook top already here, it looked brand new. I wanted a gas stove but after all the nickle and diming that goes with moving I settled for the stove.. Not crazy about it but the damn thing is a work horse...

I hate hate hate cooking on electric.
Induction is better, but I fix them and man I've seen induction ranges needing $1000 repairs.
Gas is cheap. Simple and very easy to regulate desired temperature.

Just get an Induction Range/oven that draws even more electricity.

And Northwest Arkansas gets another resident from those 3 states.
