Yeah, they’re terrible at their job

No one said they were terrible at their job, but saying the original prediction had Gulf Shores in the cone proved how good they are is silly. The initial cone included SE Texas from Beaumont East to Appalachicola. It was a very large area.
As time went on it appears to me that Gulf Shores was taken out of the cone and then put back in at a later time so Gulf Shores was not slwsys in the cone.
The NHC does a great job, but Sally gave them fits.

Thanks, though I’m a little disappointed the military didn’t get to bomb it for our viewing pleasure.

I hate to say this but I believe NOAA always errs on the side of warning NOLA has tropical systems head for the central Gulf. All major cities probably get the same forecast treatment from the weathermen. It's a risk assessment thing, I guess.

NOAA doesn't need to do that for NOLA because we have the S&WB protecting us from these big bad storms. Mayor LaToya has said repeatedly that no city is better prepared for a Cat 5 than New Orleans.

Idk if balls are the correct term. I love where I live, and didn’t want to abandon my place. I’m kinda the caretaker around here and have two big dogs that do best here.

All that said, I never once in a thousand years thought it was going to be this bad. All around me looks like tornado winds. It was a long night.

Some new vinyl siding, coat of paint, vinyl flooring, and a couple of nails with a hammer and those will be ready for occupancy next week.

Sally gave them fits, but.... OBA had Hurricane watches posted up on Saturday evening (72 hrs in advance) and had Hurricane Warnings on Monday morning (36 hours in advance).

Regarding the cone, as landfall nears, the NHC ALWAYS adds that hurricane conditions can/will exist outside of the forecast come

I don’t know anyone in Spanish fort, daphne, Fairhope with power. I’m hoping it’ll come back tonight.

I saw your truck got hit. Did you have a bunch of trees down? Our fence got fricked up but otherwise we are very lucky.

Good to see we're not even 24 hours out from landfall and the blame game has already started.

It takes a hell of a lot to close down a Waffle House

You got balls staying during a hurricane with all those trees around your house

In his defense it was a cat 1 that had been downgraded.

Some of that damage I’m seeing is some wicked cat 1 damage. I’m sure some people that stayed are regretting it now.

Laura was barely a cat 1 when it went over us and our power was out 9 days.

I know Pensacola/Gulf Shores areas got it bad, but I haven’t heard much about Destin/Miramar area. Anyone have some reports about damage and accessibility out that way?

Anyone have an update for Fairhope? Have family there that left Lake Chas and they are without power. Generator and ac units headed their way.
