When a tree hits your truck during a storm it ruins your after storm plans to do Baw things, like chainsaw downed trees and get in the way of first responders and such...maybe next time.

I haven’t heard much about Destin/Miramar area.

Fine in Miramar. I had power until about 1:00 this afternoon. The generator kicked on and the cameras are back up so we still have internet. From what I can see, there is no damage. I did see a bunch of beach chairs floating by so one or more of the beach vendors storage units may have busted loose.

How bad was the flooding? You saying that whole area along 98 mostly avoided major damage?

Looks like the Fish River has finally crested - at least for now.

Third highest of all-time just barely surpassing Hurricane Danny of 1997

On Sep 13, the cone did not include Alabama

The NHC has issued 23 5-day cones for Sally. Sally ended up outside of exactly one of them.

The fondue debate only reinforces what I’ve said for awhile - the NHC should scrap it because people clearly don’t understand what it is or what it means.

ETA- fondue debate? cone debate*

Agreed. Dump long-range cones, visually pleasing to the ignorant masses, in favor of a coded system of alerts/awareness. That way, there are fewer "but we didn't know" excuses.

Sally wasn’t a bad storm in any aspect outside of being slow. Since she was slow she was able to dump tons of rain and the winds had more of an effect and more time to wreck shop.

Anyone that says they would have left OB to Destin is full of shite, almost no one left. It was a Cat 1 yesterday with little expectation it would get to a Cat 2 AND dump so much rain. We got 21” or more in Destin and so did parts of 30A. She dumped a ton of rain.

ETA: dumping the cones is a laughable idea. So we should just put 100% faith in the government?

This was just a very unlucky and crappy situation. Weather sucks, we can’t expect perfection.

The gauge near Century for the Escambia river hasn't even reached flood stage yet at 17', but is expected to crest at over 27'. Would be a new record flood for that area.

its worth mentioning the area has gone multiple seasons without a close/direct hit from a somewhat powerful storm.

lots of shitty trees and structures that are normally culled once in awhile have been building up over a long time and are all at once getting swoned.
