Icebergs are 90% under water. So only 10% of the iceberg melted water will affect the sea level.

Holy frick. Does no one understand that floating ice will not affect sea level at all? The 10% (or whatever percent) above the water is already taken into account by the floating?! Jesus tap dancing Christ!

He’s right you know. The same amount of water is displaced. Actually apparently most of you don’t know.

That's why the ships weight is called displacement.

And yet… so many Dem politicians and leftist billionaires screeching about this continue to buy multimillion dollar beach front properties. How odd.

Part of the equation I haven't seen is this:
If you want to raise the sea levels by 2 feet you need more than two vertical feet of added water.
Know that the oceans surface area would expand linerally quite a bit if you want to raise that level up.

I am struggling to understand how the entirety of a glacier that big wouid end up in the water

gotta be thousands of square miles

The biggest concern with the glacier falling into the ocean is the water level will rise flooding a lot of Southern Louisiana.
My biggest concern is when the true Cajuns that live on stilts are forced to move north the Cajun gene will be more prevalent in the population. There will be a lot more Orgerons running around.

Umm no.

I've been hearing that same warning since I was a kid, and that was 40 years ago.

Ok. A glacier the size of Florida is enough to raise sea levels 2 feet?

Considering water makes up almost 75% of the surface of earth, I'd like to see the math on this.
Ok.

It has an area of 74,000 square miles, a bit larger than Florida. Its thickness varies a lot, ranging from ~1,000 feet to over 10,000 feet. I guess we can go with a low estimate for the average and call it half a mile thick?

So that's 37,000 cubic miles of ice.

The world's oceans cover about 140 million square miles. If this entire glacier were to melt and/or slide completely into the sea, it would raise the sea level by 37k / 140 m = 0.00026 miles, or 1.4 feet.

So I guess it's a little thicker than half a mile on average?

Scientists are warning that the world could be looking at trouble from the so-called “Doomsday Glacier” in a few years.
"scientists" and libtards have been predicting this bullshite for 40+ years and they are nothing more than sky screamers.

there is a huge amount of moisture in the atmosphere that falls to the ground and is cyclical.

isn't there at least one scientist that claims if all that moisture were to fall in an instant the earth would be inundated by a global flood.

this kind of BS never ends.

surely the Obama's will now sell their multi-million dollar home in Martha's Vineyard.

Storing up sand bags now.

i'm going to do my part and start digging two foot holes in my yard.

if we all pull together we can reverse the flooding.

i mean isn't that how we fix the global warming?
