I know people like to hate aTm, but even their nightlife is better than BR. Centralized bar location, safer environment, volunteer designated driver system.
I think it just creates a better atmosphere when a college is in a small town.
I imagine Baton Rouge was considered a small town one hundred years ago. Not sure what year they actually broke ground to begin construction of the new LSU Campus but it was before May 1926.
There are aerial photos of Tiger stadium from 1924.
Someone here on TD's should be able to provide some input.
