Vibrio is much more commonly and much more much likely to kill you statistically
Just sucks because you want kids to be kids and enjoying swimming anywhere they go

As I kid I would splash every puddle when my mom told me not to, and swim in anything deep enough.
Not so funny story, when my dad was a kid him and a friend went to a small pond with a rope swing, his friend went first and is was full of Water Moccasin.

I’m pretty sure someone got this swimming or tubing in the Ouachita River near Monroe years ago and died. Going through the nose cavity is how it happened there as well. I think they put up signs and such after the fact. Maybe it was around Columbia. Been a minute but it really makes me wonder how I never got this because I grew up skiing and knee boarding on that same river and can’t count how many times I wiped out and water go all up in my mouth and nose.

Thank you for the update no matter how sad it is. From everything I read she seemed like a precious girl. God takes flowers no matter if new, in their prime, or withered and old.

Naegleria kills under 10 to sometimes zero yearly.
From a quick search, only ~160 cases have been recorded since 1962.

We used to swim in the ditch every time it rained and I now know it had at least a dozen houses septic tanks draining into it.
This is one of those things where I choose to pretend it doesnt exist.
