You ever realize you’re normally the only one in these thread who tries to justify what this totally inept *president does? You always have some bullshite mental gymnastics routine built up in your head and you ALWAYS take up for the democrats… why?
Tboy is a leftist. You have to understand leftists do not think the way normal people do. They lack a moral compass built on a foundation of fundamental rights and wrongs. They also lack the will or ability to form an independent thought on their own. Instead the leftist’s worldview is based on (1) the party narrative and (2) whatever the party tells them, even if it directly contradictory to something the party said before. Whatever lines up with the party narrative is good. Whatever doesn’t line up with the party narrative is bad. The party tells them what is true and what is false. The party is god, infallible and pure. The party hands down the gospel and leftists lap it up like it’s milk from their momma’s tit. To do otherwise never occurs to leftists.

Because the US has NEVER instigated a war before, right? Imagine defending daddy government even when your stance makes zero sense and is observably incorrect

No. We were certainly trying to usher it along. Any objective mind can see that.

This:
Does not equal this:
quote:
Russia's defence ministry says some troops positioned on the border with Ukraine are returning to their bases
Does not equal this:
quote:
Russia is now retreating back to their bases

I wouldn't trust anything BBC reports regarding Ukraine and Russia. They've cheaped out and have been using Google Translate instead of an actual translator.
They've been embarrassingly wrong about what's going on in that part of the world.

BBC is pushing a narrative not unlike the U.S. media. They should have matching NWO tattoo’s.

How else do you explain the recent events.
Biden: War with Russia is probably going to happen but we won’t let it
Psaki: the Russians know we will fight them if and when they invade
US Media: Russia is preparing for war and invasion and we will fight them
Ukraine: y’all calm down we’re not going to war
Russia: there’s no imminent war or invasion happening
US Media: they’re going to fight each other and we’re going to join in
I don't remember anyone saying the US was going to "join in". But you also have to keep in mind that the MSM is trying to sell papers (clicks) and will use any legal means to increase their shareholders' value. (See my sig line below from over 150 years ago.)
The funny thing is that things are so partisan, that if Biden did nothing, people would complain that he's weak and has to show strength. If Biden shows strength, people complain that he's a war monger and just trying to distract from real problems.
It happens on both sides. People just can't get past their own political biases and see how ridiculous it all is.

So the left is saying Biden made Putin blink
The right is saying Biden invented the crisis as a distraction
I assume the truth is probably somewhere in between

It always seems to work out that way
I'm skeptical Russia pulled back enough of their troops to make a difference in their war posture. They could have certainly pulled units off the line that were not combat ready
This seems to be a MASSIVE capital outlay for Russia. I can't see them activating this many troops merely to play "chicken" with the West.

It is called a bluff to see what people will do. They just punked Biden who looks like an idiot to anyone with a brain, but the media will declare a victory.

No they don’t. They want to fabricate the possibility of war so when it doesn’t happen they can all praise Biden’s diplomacy skills.
It's telling that actual Ukrainians (who would stand to be killed) know there won't be an invasion and aren't really worried about it, and our administration is skyscreaming "WAR IMMINENT!!!".

Wonder if it had anything to do with this

My assumptions are -
- Some scripted and theatrical half-measure was always the likely outcome. Putin is giving himself options by the vote to recognize Donetsk and Luhansk. I don't think anything yesterday reduces the likelihood of that type of action.
- The US intelligence is real, whether the signs it relies on are genuine or intended to provoke rhetoric.
- Ukraine doesn't like the alarmism from Biden because in Ukraine's view it encourages people to become resigned to war.
- Biden has an interest in deflecting from his disastrous domestic policy, and he obviously needs to bolster a miserable foreign policy record as well. So sounding alarms and making predictions (ie, being right and first) is important to the administration. But I'm not sure they're playing chess here like Putin is.
- Putin's actions yesterday were probably not on account of having his bluff called. He knows Biden is underwater. Seems easy enough for him to publicly mock a missed prediction to further discredit Biden, even if he intends to take action in the very near future regardless.

Does this mean the price of oil will go down?

It did at the opening bell this morning.
I haven't seen anything to show that Russia is actually pulling back troops, just that they have said they will. Still in the "wait and see" phase

For me, this makes Biden look like an even bigger pu$$y.
No way Reagan would have let the USSR invade a free nation on the grounds that is "used" to belong to the Russian empire.
I HATE that we have an 80yo in office when this could be the biggest event of the 21st century. As stated by others Ukraine possesses hugely important natural resources related to the production and fabrication of electronics. Do we really want to give Russia another way to hold the West hostage besides their natural gas pipeline?
