We adopted a German shepherd mix in August. Right now she is shedding like crazy. I run the Roomba daily, and usually have to empty out the bin halfway through the run.

Roombas are great if you run them almost daily; it beats having to sweep or manually vacuum every day. But if you're only running it once a week or less, then it will be less effective.

Also, don't run the Roomba when you're not home. If your dog has an accident, you don't want the Roomba dragging that all over your house.

What’s the point of the self cleaning roomba? Don’t you still have to empty out the main bin?

I’ll say that my only (minor) complaint about my roomba is how loud it is on tile. Can’t watch TV comfortably while it’s running in the living room. Not a huge deal, but still a small issue. Might be less noisy on carpet though

they both suck

but seriously I have a dog that sheds an insane amount of hair. I have the Roomba (don't remember the model but it was a pet model). I couldn't live without it. I empty the tray every day and its full of hair.

I cant say whether its deep cleaning rugs but it keeps the floors visually clean.

In the time ive spent cleaning hair off the damn roller i couldve vacuumed the whole place.

I just use a pair of scissors to cut across the hair parallel to the roller.

Takes no time at all.

Roomba won't do much as far as dog hair goes

If you get the Roomba i7+ like I do, you don't have to empty the bin for months at a time.

As mentioned, dogs will make you get under there anyways, but if you don't have dogs, you're golden.

Other than vacuum most of it up, you're right.

How clean does it get your carpet floors? How often do you feel like you still need to use a regular vacuum after it?

Cant be happy enough with ours, but we have a single story house with no carpet. I still sweep weekly but the roomba knocks out a large majority of it.

We bought a Eufy 30c (Anker product) and it works great. First one died after eating cat poop. Eufy sent us a new one because it was still under warranty.

You only have to empty the main bin every couple months.

We had a normal roomba before and we ran it every day. Got bad about regularly emptying the onboard bin so we upgraded. It’s awesome.

I like Roombas, I think they work.

But a great cordless vacuum stick like a Dyson would have been a far better choice for us all along (we've done a couple roombas and a couple of different vacuums before the V8 or whatever). Probably would have saved a grand in vacuums over the years.

We have a Roomba and a cordless Dyson. We both prefer the Dyson. The Roomba is fine, but the Dyson is much more efficient.

No. It’s just hair/dust/dirt/crumbs etc in there.
