This is a devastating event . I’m having trouble comprehending this.. those poor kids..

What really tears me up about this story is how scared those little girls had to be. They’re still just babies at that age. Totally innocent. No idea what’s going on or what to do. Just scared and wanting their mom and dad. I don’t even have the words. All you can say is what you’ve said, it’s absolutely heartbreaking.
I’m not sure how some of these camps, specifically Mystic, recover. Survivors will no doubt have guilt and PTSD. Whatever cabins that weren’t washed away will be houses of horrors. It wouldn’t surprise me if that facility was completely torn down and rebuilt somewhere else.

That's it right there. I've been following this story with removing as much emotion as possible, but your post killed me. As the father of daughters, it was agonizing thinking about how petrified those precious little girls must hae been and how their greatest protectors on earth, Mom and Dad, couldn't be there to help.
First time I've teared up.
Hug them close, folks, hug them close.

I didn’t want to think about it either. But I have a daughter as well. That’s all I could think about.

My 7 year old girl has no idea why I'm being extra lovey and protective today. Her innocence is killing me right now.

I know nothing about any of this. And I know this is unprecedented. And I know hindsight is 20/20.
But just this satellite photo

This is all my mind keeps playing, over and over. It's messed up.

I pray whatever happened to those kids happened quickly. I have no idea how the parents deal with this.
Look a my previous post about the parents who lost their two children and probably the grandparents. The focus is on the campers, but there are other horrible stories.

This is the most tragic event in my recent memory. I really don’t have words to describe it besides incredibly tragic

It gives me the feeling of Sandy Hook. Not quite on that level but its hard to not think about it constantly throughout the day.

I won't survive a day if any of my kids die. I know it does the living ones no favor, but if any of my babies die I'm out.

Having had to live through it I can tell you there is no pain comparable!

I am hard a one to cry but I can’t stop the tears as I think of these little girls and how frightened they had to be as this happened. I have 4 kids ages 25 to 14. One boy and 3 girls. They have all gone to Camp Winshape at Berry College campus in Rome , Ga. since they were small. My 14 year old daughter is the only one left still of age to camp and she is there now since we dropped her off last Sunday. We pick her up on Friday. I just know how excited she is to go every year. The happiness of check-in day and all the photos the camp sends during the 2 weeks she is there with the big smiles and activities they are doing. I am sick to my stomach thinking of those children and what their families are experiencing. This is just gut wrenching. I just wrote her a campgram via email that she will get tomorrow and had tears flowing as I was typing.

Just read about another family of 4. The parents’ bodies have been found. Two young children still missing.

Damn that hits hard…my daughter just got home from a 3 week camp stint in Gunthersville, AL. I’m having a hard time right now reconciling sending her back next year even though she loves it. I couldn’t make it without her she’s my rock and my baseball buddy.
I simply cannot fathom what those girl’s and their parents are going through!!!

I cant even begin to imagine. I just can't. I have been in a mood since yesterday afternoon as it has become increasingly evident what the outcome is going to be.

This is the worst kind of tragedy. Like someone said these girls were babies. They had no clue what was happening and they were probably scared to death. That's the part that got me. These parents have to be held tightly after going through this. You know the grief and guilt they are going through is probably insurmountable right now.

I believe Kerrville first responders have said they are good and have plenty of volunteers at this point, and that calls in to help are just clogging up the phone lines. That was on Facebook, but I’m trying to stay off as much as I can. It’s hard to sift through real communication and assholes in the comments.

My wife told me about this tragedy and I told her not to mention it again because it broke my heart. We took the kids to our camp this morning and she broke down in the truck on the way there. We had a great day as a family checking deer stands, fishing, and swimming. When we got home, I sat outside with my 5 year old girl in my arms for as long as she would let me. I also laid in bed with my 3 year old boy.
Like others have said, this tragedy hurts differently than most. As a parent, I’ll continuously pray I never have to go through something like this
