I'm sure I will, if only because we already paid for it. I'm actually startled with how emotional this has made me. This sounds terrible, but I think the fact that it happened to little girls makes it worse.

This thread is tough to read but I can't help but keep reading it just hoping at least some of the children are found. Our hearts go out to the families. Our 9 year old granddaughter just got back from a day of swimming at the lake and we gave her a big hug. I can't imagine what those families are going through. God help them.
Same. I keep checking and praying that one of the new posts will be that at least one is found OK.

I absolutely understand. This makes you want your kids close. It may be a little more difficult to drop them off.

Here’s another sad thing. The missing girls’ pictures were posted with contact numbers. I’ve now seen posts about parents whose children’s bodies have been found having outlets asking for privacy for them and not to call them. You’d think normal people wouldn’t need to asked that !

Parents lost both of their girls in the flood. The girls were in a cabin with their grandparents. The girls’ bodies have been found. The grandparents are still missing. The girls’ parents were in a different cabin and are safe. Heartbreaking.
Anything I think to say in response to what's going on feels so trite to me, which includes saying that I don't even know what to say. I'm debating not typing out the rest of this post because of it, but I feel compelled to post what I'm about to post for those who don't know the following story (taken from the Wikipedia entry for the hymm, It is Well with My Soul):
Spafford had planned to travel to England with his family on the SS Ville du Havre, to help with Dwight L. Moody's upcoming evangelistic campaigns. In a late change of plan, Spafford sent his wife, Anna, and their four daughters, Annie, Maggie, Bessie, and Tanetta, ahead while Spafford was delayed on business concerning zoning problems following the Great Chicago Fire. While crossing the Atlantic Ocean, the ship sank rapidly after a collision with a sea vessel, the Loch Earn, killing 226 people, including Annie, Maggie, Bessie, and Tanetta. Anna survived and sent Spafford the now famous telegram, "Saved alone …". Shortly afterwards, as he traveled to England to meet his grieving wife, Spafford was inspired to write these words as his ship passed the spot near where his four daughters had died. Bliss called his tune Ville du Havre, from the name of the stricken vessel
When peace like a river, attends my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, You have taught me to know
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
Refrain
It is well, (it is well),
With my soul, (with my soul)
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And has shed His own blood for my soul.
My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to His cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!
For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live:
If Jordan above me shall roll,
No pang shall be mine, for in death as in life,
Thou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul.
But Lord, 'tis for You, for Your coming we wait,
The sky, not the grave, is our goal;
Oh, trump of the angel! Oh, voice of the Lord!
Blessed hope, blessed rest of my soul.
And Lord, haste the day when the faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
A song in the night, oh my soul!

From the pics shared above the lower part of the camp seems to be on the point bar side of a river bend AND near the confluence of the Guad and maybe another creek or wash that runs into it. Really tough area that is going to experience some flooding because of its topography

For those asking why the camp didn’t just evacuate the kids. In 1987, a flash flood hit the exact same area along the Guadalupe River. In the middle of the night, camp leaders decided to evacuate the 300 campers. While trying to evacuate the camp, a bus carrying 43 kids was hit with a wall of water while crossing a bridge. 33 kids were plucked from the river and lived, but 10 died. When a flash flood like this hits, there’s very little options. And sometimes, evacuating is the most dangerous.

Yep. That’s so hard to watch. The video of the two boys from the boys’ camp that popped up after helped, but thinking of what they went through is daunting.

flooding is part of the experience.
Not really man. Drought is the norm this time of year in that part of the country.
For recency check in with W NC about tropical storms that everyone forgot about that just kept going even after the media lost interest.

The current drought, which has been since I guess 2020 maybe earlier maybe later
But flash flooding occurs in Central Texas quite often even during droughts

That thread contained some info that confirmed my suspicion here. The lower cabins were caught in a swirl of the south fork of the Guad and a side creek. Sadly I feel none of the girls in the Bubble Inn will be found alive. Out of respect for the family I won’t say the name of the girl who was just confirmed dead but she is in that picture will all the 7-8s that were in the Bubble Inn. As a dad of 4 daughters who loves the hill country and the Guadalupe this rips my heart apart.

I am in the area today, the stories are insane I wished like hell someone would have taken a trailer down with some horses, but a lot seemed to not want to search thru the rubble. It’s awful and I will probably hear more for a long time

You are correct. In addition to the Guadalupe, Cypress Creek and a dry wash also converge there. With the amount of rain and the narrowness of the banks, I imagine the water was coming from all sides.
