Renting out your swimming pool/backyard

I did not know this was a thing. And why is this a thing!
The wife got invited to a 'pool day' by a work friend. Well, the lady doesn't have s pool and doesn't live in an apartment complex. So we were curious about the location. Well apparently there is a website called SWIMPLY, where you can rent out or rent your pool/yard for a few hours.
We looked up some in our area and we're surprised at how many people do this. Prices ranged from $30/hr to $199/hr. Also saw places were 8-20 people could be invited. Crazy.
Part of me gets it on renting side. If you don't want to deal teens and strangers, I guess it makes sense. But as a homeowner, if I had a pool, I would not want strange people in my backyard.
Maybe I'm just too old for this new age stuff.

It is not crazy. It is genius. Makes money and pisses off the HOAs.

Yes. The one my wife is going to allows up to 8 vehicles!

I imagine pool owners would jump at the opportunity to recoup some of the maintenance and installation costs. If it’s only a couple hours once or twice a week, that’s not bad

Wait until the lawsuits and lawyers get involved.
Who decides if the pool is built safely for children and handicap or disabled people?
It just screams lawsuits waiting to happen not including the issue with neighbors.

I spend way too much time and money on my pool/backyard to let someone else use it.

I don't think 'they' have found out about it yet. But it's only a matter of time

First, I wouldn't want to incur the potential legal risk involved.
Aside from that, THE reason I own a pool is so I DON'T have to share it with strangers or utilize the public/neighborhood pool. Why would I want to invite strangers to come use my pool?
