Have one under my garage. I leave it on 24/7. Usually get about 4 years. But again, it is on 24/7.

Yeah, the on/off cycle tends to shorten their life. I've also yet to find one that will last any appreciable time in outdoor fixtures. The annoying part for the outdoor ones is they don't just die, they gradually fade. I've tried all price ranges.

I was also getting poor lifespan out of them. Then I put a whole house surge protector on my house and now they aren't going out so much.

When we sold my grandparents house I had to remove a strip of freezer tape with the date written on it from the cover of the bathroom light

Very few things piss me off more than going to buy light bulbs and realizing/wondering (1) how cheap they used to be; (2) how overpriced they are now; and (3) how many people are making millions off the scam "science" that precludes the rest of us from just buying some cheap fricking light bulbs.
Even if incandescent bulbs were free I would not use them. A 60 watt bulb used 2 hours per day costs $6.50/year to power (at 15 cents/kwh). I don't think most people quite appreciate how much money LED bulbs save, probably because most of us just replaced them a handful at a time over the years. They save about 80%.
If you switch back to incandescent bulbs throughout your whole house right now, your power bill will be in the neighborhood of $100/month higher. I have 8 exterior flood lights that stay on all night every night. They were 120W bulbs that were costing about $600/year in electricity. I put in some "expensive" ($10/bulb) LEDs that are just as bright but only draw 14 watts. That $600/year now only costs about $100/year in electricity. I'm saving damn near $50/month just on exterior lighting.

I threw some away when I moved that I had about 10 to 15 years. They were like 20 bucks each back then though and they really did last a long time.
Plus, if you read the numbers, it is like an hour a day 4 days a week or some stupid metric.

So based on all of that and the energy rated HVAC, tankless WH, etc. why is my energy bill higher than it’s ever been?

Research Dubai bulbs. Vast majority LED light bulbs are overdriven so they never meet the stated life expectancy. This should be obvious as there isn't as much money to be made if they actually lasted as long as advertised.

The tankless water heater probably doesn't save much if anything (and it might cost you more). High efficiency hvac does save energy but it's harder to notice given seasonal and annual variations.
Tell you what, get yourself an innefficient hvac system and switch back to incandescent bulbs and let me know how you like it.

Probably the cause of global warming. Those bulbs were hot AF. You would change a can light to that bulb then have to replace the can in 6 months because it couldn't take the heat.

I’ve noticed my carport lights are shorter lived too. I only use them dusk to 1130 also. Last maybe a year or so. Inside lasts much longer.

This. Incandescent lamps are highly efficient. The portion of a residential power bill that comes from lights is very small regardless of the type of lamps being used. Incandescent lamps can also last a long time. There is one somewhere in a lab that has been burning non-stop for 100 years. They were the first consumer product intentionally designed to fail...its called the lightbulb cartel. Pretty interesting story.
LEDs will last almost forever. The driver is being intentionally designed to fail and as they become more and more prevalent they will fail with less and less time. By design. There were incandescent lamps which would last longer that LEDs today which used to be readily available. a 100 watt 240 volt incandescent lamp, again readily available up until just a few years ago, drew the same amount of current as a 50 watt 120 volt lamp and had a life expectancy of about 20000 hours. Thats about 10 hours a day for 5 years. They cost about twice what a budget 100 watt 120 volt incandescent cost. You can still get them but they are harder and harder to find and of course more expensive. LED Lamps are the worst idea to come along since herpes.
