Okay, fine...but only because I have a soft spot for Bo Derek. So, have you not worked due to the mental issues? I imagine then that your resume has a four year gap - how do you address that in an interview? What types of jobs are you looking for? What is it that you really want to do? What was your degree in? Can you go back to pharma?

Yea and it started with addiction. I can’t stop smoking weed for the life of me. I’m in AA. I can’t drink normal either. The four year gap is explained by saying I had a medical event that went into Covid and now I’m ready to get back to work. It hasn’t worked saying that. I want to be back in pharma sales but I can’t even get an interview. The jobs I’m looking at are medical sales but it looks like I’ll have to pivot and do something else in the meantime. :(

I’ve never sold a damn thing in my life but it sounds like the OP was once a good salesman who then took time off due to drugs and mental health issues.

Sounds a lot like the brother of a really hot chick I knew a few years ago.

I would recommend applying for lower level sales jobs. Pharma is probably pretty prestigious right? Aim for 2 levels below that, succeed and move on up.

Nope, this has got to stop. This is #1 priority before you even think about a job. Get off the drink and the weed first.

You need to replace these activities with self improvement habits

Learn how to lift weights, go to the gym or start jogging/running in the evenings

I was told weed isn't addictive.

But I understand the alcohol part. Extremely addictive and you are already in AA so I'm not going to talk shite on that.

Is weed like replacement therapy for the lack of alcohol?

I agree, retail of food service might be a good route. I think they are more concerned with reliability over anything else.

In all seriousness, not trying to be a smart arse, but pharma sales is out for you. You’re going to have to direct your sales skills to a different area.

Do you know people in industry? Would they recommend you? Get in touch with everyone you know in Pharma/device and get their thoughts and have them help you. I’m still a believer of it’s who you know. Sure you have to show your qualified, but you need a buddy to get you to an interview

* I would also follow other suggestions and look at other sales jobs. Auto industry and so on.

Yeah no shite. Nobody's going to buy that you haven't worked for three years due to COVID.

Change your bullshite story. Try international study or extended family care.

So you sold pills and got hooked on them yourself, possibly got busted stealing samples.

You’re not getting 75k and a car.

Had a friend who was a nurse got hooked on pills and nobody would touch her. Took a friend giving her a chance before she ever got back on her feet.

You’re going to have to reestablish a name for yourself as a grunt and work your way back up.

Seriously. Dude's an active substance abuser and thinking he's just going to waltz right back into that six figure, high-profile job he once had before becoming an addict. Putting the cart before the horse here. Doesn't sound like he's hit his bottom yet and is truly ready to do what it takes to reclaim his life.
