Sadly, I woke up to some heartbreaking news this morning here in Baton Rouge , Louisiana. Someone broke into my van overnight, shattered two windows, stole a lawnmower, and ransacked everything inside. It’s honestly heartbreaking and deflating, especially when you’re simply trying to do good and make a difference.

I can’t understand why someone would do something like this. I’ve contacted the police, and I’m currently waiting for them to arrive and process the van for fingerprints. Unfortunately, this means I won’t be able to attend the Louisiana Book Festival today as planned.

I was really looking forward to meeting everyone and sharing my books, but right now, I’m just trying to process everything that happened.

I wonder where he stayed, it’s really sad this is what BR has become

Where is the broken glass, as it is not on the ground outside the van?
Did it possibly get all knocked into the inside?

Why do black people steal lawnmowers? It’s not like they’re gonna cut grass with them

I wonder how much of this type of stuff turns out to be scams. My neighbors shitty food truck went missing and everyone knows it was just an insurance scam

This is not one of those cases. This dude is very well known for what he does.

I had a nice garden district house years ago in BR.
I was doing my yard. I set my back pack blower down and went inside to get a drink. I was inside maybe two minutes. Came out and blower was gone. I drove around planning to run over anyone I saw running with one.

I also had two car windows broken and caught a guy trying to break in. The cops said "it should have let him finish then dispatched him for us".
Anyway. Crime has always been bad in BR.

Meanwhile in Kenner I didn't start locking my door until like 2015.

No good deed goes unpunished.
Its a great organization doing good things for both kids and old folks that wont really be slowed down by this setback.

Well, if they broke the windows to get in, the glass would be inside.

If the windows had any sort of laminate/tint, the shards are going to be more likely to stick to those than simply fall away. Also, many modern side windows are now two panels of tempered glass with a slim sheet of plastic sandwiched between them (this is the same thing you see with windshields and why they don't spray about when something causes the glass to shatter).

If that's the case here, the shattered windows are likely still mostly intact and lying inside the vehicle.

Also, it would be pretty smart of a criminal to not leave shards outside as those are going to be more noticeable at night than would a completely missing window.

This happened to me years ago in St. George, but it was a Stihl commercial trimmer. I just sat in the a/c for 10 minutes to cool off and someone took it.

People make fun of Kenner but it seems its law enforcement is pretty good. Don’t hear of much happening there.

Imagine living in a state so shitty, that Kenner is your shining example of low crime (except for illegal immigration, of course.)
