If you have to ask how much, you can’t afford it

Yeah but for the most part, there's a massive difference between people who have been out of college and working for a few years vs in college or just out of college.

These ladies never expected to pay you back or be asked to pay you back.

How much money we talking here?
Posted on 3/10/20 at 8:33 am to UpToPar
I'm curious if it was explained how much each drink would be at each place they went to.

A couple hundred dollars. Not enough to ultimately hurt but enough to be annoying to spend unexpectedly. We’d definitely discussed beforehand they could just go enjoy the bar and atmosphere and I’d go take care of the drinks and waiting for a bar tender and they’d pay me back.

You probably should have discussed it first with one of them, whichever one was the friend that set most of it up beforehand. All this could have been avoided by a simple discussion on the first night out that you were buying first round or whatever but then Venmo was being calculated in your head.

Please bookmark your OP, feel your obvious angst today, and come read it 2 years from now. You'll realize just how pointless this negative energy is.
Who cares what anyone that does not provide value to your life thinks of the way you operate.
Send them another Venmo request for the time and mental energy you spent stressing over this.

It wasn’t much per person and they paid immediately. They were totally fine with the amount. They were solely insulted that I sent them a request via Venmo. I really don’t know which smoother way I could have asked them for money other than texting them the amount but I don’t have most of their phone numbers.

You probably didn’t relay to them the cost of those high dollar specialty drinks you were buying to look awesome in front of others while telling them they “owe you” for that. Dafuq outta here. Those girls woulda been fine with $1 high life

Thanks for the advice but I am fine. I got my money and I don’t really care if they’re upset with me. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn’t just being dismissive in thinking sending a Venmo request was something super rude. Which this thread has mostly confirmed it is ridiculous to be insulted by what I did.

This took WAY too long.

I think its awkward to make people pay for things that you are ordering. Maybe they would choose to go cheaper if you weren't ordering. Are you considering that? Don't bill me for a steak you ordered for me when I would've been fine with a bowl of gumbo.
Good Lord. The dude seems to have gone out of his way to make sure these little twits were able to just enjoy themselves while he acted like their personal butler. Apparently he was supposed to be their personal ATM too.
And he wasn't even banging them.

I didn’t even know you could send a bill. They are just used to hearing someone say to them hey don’t forget to hit me up with that Venmo.

Yeah that's what I'm wondering. He makes it sound like they were bar hopping the quarter during Mardi gras or something.

Your lesson here is to not put yourself in this type of dumbass position ever again.
You should have paid for that lesson but instead you let 21 year-old college girls pay for your lesson.
You go boy!
