Proper Venmo courtesy and college girls

So this week/weekend my best friends younger sister (who I’ve known her entire life) and her friends has been staying with my Girlfriend and I while they enjoy New Orleans for spring break. Now of course I don’t mind this because I want them to enjoy themselves and show them good places to eat and drink and just have fun. They’re 21 but about 6-7 years younger than we are so while they’re right in the Middle of being college students we are firmly in the middle of our 20s when obviously your world view is a little different.
To help them out whenever we’d go places especially that are crowded and they didn’t know what to try or what was the speciality of each particular bar I would just order for them and they’d pay me back. No big deal right. So after the first few days I sent them both their bill via Venmo. Well apparently that was a huge insult and break down of social decorum on my part. Had no idea. They said that it was considered rude and insinuated I didn’t trust them to pay me. I told them I didn’t expect them to pay me on their own because I too was once 21 years old and know how college students operate, which is irresponsibly. I’m At the point where I couldn’t give 2 fricks if I didn’t necessarily approach the proper way to send someone a bill via an online app. The most confusing part is was I supposed to get all their phone numbers and text them the amount owed so that they could then go into Venmo and send it to me at their leisure? Otherwise they’d never know how much they owed me total for the food/drinks. I can see for sure how people hate younger people the older they get
TLDR: my college aged girl guests got offended i sent Venmo requests for their bill of things I bought for them instead of them just sending the money to me on their own (when they’d have no way of knowing how much they really owed me or they were ordering)
I told them ultimately to kick rocks and I don’t care if that’s a breath of courtesy because it’s ridiculous. I also said if they have a problem with it (jokingly of course) they could find another place to stay for free in uptown New Orleans.
ETA: they paid me back so I’m not salty over losing money or anything. Just confused that what I did was somehow considered rude
and let the downvoted rain because I’m not sending you people pictures when you have the entire internet already at your disposal.

Tell them to kick rocks. Who cares if it’s rude you’re hosting them

I don't know if there's a question you are asking in your post or you are just sharing a story

As soon as you paid for that stuff you should have known that money was gone.

I would have waited until the end of the trip to venmo them for everything. But I would not consider this a "huge insult" in the least bit.

They are 21 year old college girls that you are not fricking.
Who cares what they think.
Who cares what they think.

I don't see anything wrong with what you did unless there was some sort of spoken agreement on this. Either way, it seems pretty normal to just send the request amount they owe considering you paid and handled everything for them.
After they pay, tell them next time you'll charge a service fee for taking care of everything for them Ungrateful fricks.
ETA: Agreed with person saying wait until end of trip if you trust them enough.

Are these girls ugly? If not, it sounds like they played dumb so you'd pay for them.

Yeah, sounds like they expected you to pay and forget that they said they'd pay you back.
No one who actually plans on paying someone back would be offended by someone requesting payment on Venmo. In fact, most wouldn't even let it get to that point. They'd Venmo you right then and there.

Who cares man, you let friends stay at your place and spent a few bucks. Why would you hassle them to pay you back?

That’s exactly what I did I told them they could find a market rate apartment uptown vs my free apartment. The best part is being in a committed relationship with someone I truly love which essentially renders the powers other women have on me moot. I’d imagine college girls who are used to young and inexperienced yet Earnest college boys fawning over them don’t know how to handle that yet.

They’re getting pissy about the bill because they probably hoped or assumed you’d forget about it and just pay their share.
Posted on 3/10/20 at 8:11 am to jlovel7
I should send you a bill for having to read through that dreck.
Gonna need about tree fiddy

Because they’re not my friends and it’s several hundred dollars and I’m not a millionaire

What a shocker, you actually expect them to pay you back.
Tell them to get over it.
