William Rufus King of Alabama was elected VP in 1852. He visited Havana before taking office, and took ill. He could not be moved, and took the oath of office there (only time that's happened on foreign soil) and died there (only national officeholder not to set foot in tUS during his time in office)

He also loved to suck cock. His butt buddy was future president James Buchanan. Andrew Jackson called them "Aunt Nancy and Miss Fancy"

On October 25, 1921, at age 67, Masterson died at his desk from a massive heart attack after writing what became his final column for the Morning Telegraph.

His last column included this statement "I suppose these ginks who argue that ... because the rich man gets ice in the summer and the poor man gets it in the winter, things are breaking even for both. Maybe so, but I'll swear I can't see it that way."

Texas Tech has a statue of cowboy/entertainer Will Rogers riding a horse and positioned the arse of the horse directly pointing towards Texas A&M & College Station.

Makes me really like Texas Tech.

George Foreman is buried in Sioux City, IA - not because he has any connections there but because he visited the area and liked it so much he decided that’s where he wants to be buried.

James Arness that played Matt Dillion in Gunsmoke served in WWII as an Infantryman

quote:

As a rifleman in the U.S. Army, Arness earned the Bronze Star, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign with three Bronze Campaign Stars, Purple Heart, and the World War II Victory Medal. Quite an impressive distinction for a man whose intent had been to join the Navy as a fighter pilot, but was rejected because he was too tall.

Arness was 6’7” tall

quote:

The Army had no problem with James Arness’ height. In fact, they took full advantage of it, using him as a human depth detector! On January 22, 1944, Arness was deployed to Anzio Beachhead in Italy, and because of his 6’7” stature, he was ordered first off the landing craft to determine the depth of the water.

Greatest irony on the OT today is that the biggest hit on the album was Crazy Love.

quote:

An actor way before he got famous, you might know him as “Troy McClure” (Phil Hartman(n)) (Pictured here with his crazy-assed 3rd wife who shot him dead and then kilt her ownself.)

Frank Anthony Vellelonga AKA Tony Lip, best known for his role of Carmine Lupertazzi, drove for classical pianist Don Shirly in the 60's in the south. This was later turned into the 2018 movie Green Book in which he was played by Viggo Mortensen.

He got into acting afterwards while working as a bouncer at the Copacabana. Though uncredited in early movies such as The Godfather, Raging Bull, and Dog Day Afternoon, he got his first big roll as Frankie in The Pope of Greenwich Village, but I first noticed him in Goodfellas as Frankie The Wop
