The fact that some bank is willing to loan a Popeyes franchisee $130M is proof of how stupid our economy is.

It's a chaotic shite show. You have to accept that fact before subjecting yourself to the experience in hopes the payoff is worth it.

You realize the company owned 130 locations right?

Built a new one within 30 min of my house a few years ago. Now closed.

Picked one of the worst spots they could have to put it.

There are some in Texas that are fully Hispanic staffed and run well. Fastest Popeyes experience you will get in my opinion.

BUT, they still are not packed at peak hours. Probably failing because of price and competition that is out there. I can literally drive 10 more minutes to get to Babe’s chicken and get much better food for similar prices.

One Mardi Gras day I pulled up to the drive thru and the lady greeted us with “the frick yall want?”

You used to actually be able to see red pepper on the chicken. It isn't spicy at all anymore. And I don't give a single frick. If you are open for operation, don't sell me something if you are out. I am not exaggerating. The chicken was cooked in flour with zero seasoning. I'm old. It was the single worst Popeyes experience of my life. Being busy on a busy day doesn't excuse absolute shite.

The one I went to in Atlanta was so bad you could have made a documentary film about how bad it was. I'm not kidding, an actual documentary film that would have become a sensation like Tiger King.

And the crazy part was they had a giant 3 foot tall trophy on the counter that had a plaque that said something like "World's Greatest Popeyes Location - 1997" or something. When I first saw that thing, I just assumed they won some crappy softball tournament or something but the fact that they actually had the nerve to get this giant fake arse trophy made and put it on the counter when they were bar none the WORST business establishment I have ever set foot in is on another level of inssulting. It would be like Susan Smith or Anrea Yates walking around wearing a T-shirt that said, "World's Greatest Mom".

This was the franchisee overextending themselves.

Not really a popeyes problem, but a problem any restaurant owner could face.

130 stores doing $2 million AUVS.

That's $260 million in sales.

What business do you run doing that?

It's a lot harder for me to feel bad for businesses that fail on their own accord since 2022 and all the inflation that's happened.

Grocery Store in my hometown that only hired family members and attractive women recently went out of business and I didn't even have an ounce of empathy. We have to quit subsidizing mediocrity and bad business decisions.

They should take something from the canes model. They have some of the rudest employees.

It’s wild that they make the best product on the market but somehow staff their restaurants with the he worst employees they can find

vs CFA that has very mediocre food and great service and people beat the door down for it.

The one popeys that I have found that had great customer service was in Oxford, MS. It was like a unicorn. I didnt want to tell anyone. I wanted to keep it a secret.
