Most of the sec homers only watch sec football. Unless you watch the other conferences, you shouldn’t open your mouth.
Yes the SEC is talented and in general have the big boys up front. But other teams and conferences can still play good football.

Notre dame was a more complete team than bama. Despite what the sec nerds think.

I think this is a way we can bring back some of the tradition, rivalries, and restore a little bit of what we had in this beautiful sport prior to the chaos. What are your thoughts?
Problems
1. NIL out of control
2. Transfer portal/free agency broken
3. Conference realignment & geography issues
4. Competitive imbalance
5. No clear governing body
6. Post-season debate
7. History and fabric of the sport altered.
Conference Realignment
First I want to acknowledge that we have opened up pandora's box and we will never go back to the way it was. My first choice would be the old Power 5 set up before the SEC was altered. Since we can't do that, we could move to 3 power conferences of 24, totaling 72 teams. See the additions below.
SEC
- Clemson, Louisville, FSU, GT, Duke, UNC, Virginia, VT
BIG 10
- Stanford, Cal, Syracuse, Oregon St, Wash St, ND
*Yes I am aware of Big10 Standards.
Big 12
- Pitt, SMU, Miami, NC State, Wake, BC, Memphis, Tulane
Rivals
All Rivals must be played on the last week of the season.
SEC Rivals
- Bama/Aub, Florida/FSU, UGA/GT, UK/Lou, Tenn/Vandy, LSU/Ark, MSU/Ole Miss, Tex/A&M, SC/Clem, UNC/Duke, OU/Miz, UVA/VT
BIG10 Rivals
- Illinois/NW, Ind/Purdue, Iowa/Neb, Minn/Wisc, USC/UCLA, Ore/OSU, Wash/WSU, Stanford/Cal, ND/MSU, Mich/OSU, PSU/Maryland, Rutgers/Syracuse
Big 12 Rivals
- Ari/ASU, Baylor/TCU, BYU/Utah, Cincy/Memp, Houston/SMU, Tech/OSU, Col/ISU, WVU/Pitt, UCF/Tulane, Miami/BC, NC St/Wake, Kan/KSU
Conference Alignment
Each conference aligns in 3 divisions of 8. Before you grill me on LSU not playing bama, auburn, and UF, this was as close as I could get to regionalize things, while still keeping as much tradition as possible. This will also help other sports with travel budget.
SEC 1 - Ark, LSU, MSU, Miz, Ole Miss, OU, Tex, Tex A&M
SEC 2 - Bama, Aub, UGA, GT, UK, Lou, Tenn, Vandy
SEC 3 - Florida, FSU, SC, Clem, Duke, UNC, UVA, VT
BIG 1 - USC, UCLA, Ore, OSU, Wash, WSU, Stanford, Cal
BIG 2 - Minn, Wisc, Neb, Iowa, NW, Illinois, ND, MSU
BIG 3 - Mich, OSU, Purdue, Ind, PSU, Maryland, Rutgers, Syracuse
Big12 1 - Arizona, ASU, BYU, Utah, Col, ISU, KSU, Kan
Big12 2 - OSU, Tech, Bay, TCU, SMU, Hous, Memp, Tulane
Big12 3 - Pitt, WVU, Miami, UCF, Wake, NC St, BC, Cincy
Rules
- Instate a governing body to control the chaos and keep these rules in place
1. Weeks 1-3 designated to play out of conference games.
2. OOC games must consist of 1 FCS opponent, and 2 FBS schools from differing conferences. (Ex: SEC school plays FCS, Big10, Big 12)
3. Weeks 4-14 are designated to play 9 in-conference games and have 2 byes.
4. Conference games consist of 7 in-division games, and 2 rotating div games. (Ex: SEC 1 plays entire div, 1 SEC2, and 1 SEC3 school)
5. No Conference Championship games will be played.
6. BCS computers will be used to formulate rankings.
7. No voting by a committee will take place.
8. The playoff will remain 12 spots and will only consist of FBS schools. FCS will formulate their own tourney.
9. Each in-season division winner is guaranteed a spot in the playoffs as long as they finish in the TOP 15 of final BCS rankings.
10. Remaining 3 spots are at large bids.
11. If a conference division does not qualify by being in the top 15, those bids are awarded to the next highest ranked team as an at-large.
12. The 4 byes are determined by ranking ONLY.
13. All remaining teams will be invited to bowls with a 6 win season qualifier.
14. If a team opts-out of the bowl or can't fill a roster, they lose the ability to make the playoffs the following year.
15. NIL money is still allowed, but each school has a salary cap.
16. Penalties are enforced if you break the salary cap or illegally give money out.
17. Free Agency transferring is NOT allowed. You must sit out a year unless a hardship is proven (ie: injury, coach change, etc) or you are a grad transfer.
18. If a player leaves a school, they break their NIL contract and forfeit their money. Thus, not harming the school's salary cap.
So for example, this is how it would have played out this year.
Rankings
1. Indiana (BIG Div 3)
2. Ohio St (At-large)
3. UGA (SEC Div 2)
4. Texas Tech (Big12 Div 2)
5. Oregon (BIG Div1)
6. Ole Miss (SEC Div 1)
7. A&M (At-large)
8. OU (At-large)
9. Bama (At-large)
10. Miami (Big12 Div 3)
11. ND (BIG Div 2)
12. BYU (Big12 Div 1)
13. Texas
14. Vandy
15. Utah
Bracket is standard
1-4 byes, 12v5, 8v9, 10v7, 11v6

re: The REAL way to fix bowl games.

While I’m not a fan of further playoff expansion, it’s not the worst idea.
A lot can be solved by capping NIL, holding players to an actual contract, enforcing penalties/paybacks if the contract is broken, and getting rid of FA transferring. Bring back the sit out a year for moving schools

You can’t penalize one team and reward another for CCG results

Thing that drives me nuts the most is Bama got rolled by FSU. No one talks about that. FSU is garbage anyway you slice it, in the power conference that is given no respect. How is this not a penalty for Bama????
re: You have to at least be competitive in a CCG, right?

Not if your name is Alabama
re: Playoffs!!! No team should make the playoffs unless they are ranked no lower than 12th.
Posted by Pistols Firing 12 on 12/6/25 at 4:19 pm to faraway
Teams that don’t make it into the top ten don’t have a leg to stand on in my opinion. So anyone that is outside of the top ten whining about how good they are, needs to be quiet.
We don’t need more than 5 teams from the same conference in, period.

re: Does TTU deserve a playoff spot if they lose to BYU?
Posted by Pistols Firing 12 on 12/3/25 at 4:42 pm to nick__21
Yes they deserve a spot. The have one loss and it was on the road with the backup QB by 4 points. If you’ve actually watched them, you know they have talent.
Can’t wait to watch them match up against the SEC/big10. It should be good tv.

If I’m the bills, I go into a hurry up and try a couple quick hitting plays to slow the rush down. Keep sneaking a run to cook in there.

Slow developing run on a 4th down against a defense getting penetration. Bad call by Brady there
