I find the solution quite simple. You have to work for the handouts. So even if thats picking up trash on the side of the road, or just pressure washing sidewalks, fricking anything. Local governments can easily create jobs that make their cities stay beautiful.
Because once you actually have to do something for that money or that subsidized housing, they would take it more seriously.

I think this is kind of backing up the idea that different markets have different demands and cost of living. I think one thing that happens in this thread too is people use where they personally are at in their lives in regards to income to dictate what is average and what’s wealthy. A 100k household income for someone who already owns a home, car, has kids out of daycare and small to no student loans can live very wealthy. But I imagine the average starting family of just one child now will have student loans, average credit and probably not too much savings or none because you’re just out of collegw. So your talking about either renting to save for a 20% deposit or doing a 3% down mortgage with a PMI. Buying a vehicle or leasing a vehicle to go to work to make money. Day care. Buying furniture (even as cheap as possible) because you have none. And again, where you live dictates a lot. 100k in suburbs or urban areas and you are doing good. Some metropolitan areas, probably still a little above average. But 100k in Orlando for example with the cost of living, growing a family and starting from scratch, 100k is going to be average unless you live above your means. 100k if your mid 40s, 10-15 years into your mortgage with your vehicle paid off and no more daycare cost, then you are living above average. The dollar though just doesn’t get you as far as it used to starting out.
That’s why I haven’t been too upset about the unemployment now as long as it stops in July and companies open back up. We will still need workers in these markets once things get back to normal. But I’m also a believer that this was all bullshite to get worked up about and these shut downs have done more harm than good.

Food stamps and unemployment benefits that you only get if you lost your job due to this pandemic? I don’t believe this story.
I know multiple small businesses that have had their workforce quit on them to go collect the checks because they make more money sitting at home. There is zero checks and balances on this as others have said.

It’s just as bad as all the municipal sourced welfare.

Congrats on outing yourself on not having a clue what you’re talking about.

100% agree with this. We need to find a way to build more national pride and take care of the land and cities we occupy.

The fact that he doesn’t know you can’t collect unemployment for quitting your job is just *chefs kiss*

Lulz. Keep telling yourself that. $100k is not a lot of money.

This type of stuff is the right's version of Karen. I have never seen so many "conservatives" that bitch about people wearing mask yet turn around and complain about what other people do with their money.
HINT: It is NONE of your business.

So the issue you have is they're keeping more of their money?
The tax system is weighted heavily in favor of corporations and business at the expense of wage earners.
Have you looked at the marginal rates and tax code lately?
W-2 wage earners get fricked harder than anyone else. The government and politicians hate workers. Don't let their stump speeches fool you.

Please do. You still haven't gotten to the part where they're taking money from other people.
They are taking money from you in the form of higher marginal rates on your income, presuming you are a W-2 earner. The government has to collect their revenue from somewhere and if Joe the business owner is deducting personal expenses to lower his tax bill, you will be on the hook to make up the difference.
Are you really this dense?

The problem I have with you is that you're very free with other people's money.

We should banish all corporations from the country. ALL are awful terrible plagues on our society

Why do they get the ability to keep what’s theirs and you don’t?

Nice strawman you built up to tear down bro.

I agree to this to an extent. There should always be some very small safety net for you average person, but not for corporations like airlines or car manufacturers or even tourism. The strongest companies will survive. Those that don’t will be bought out and or potentially liquidated. But if there is a need for the service or product, it won’t just disappear. Just someone else will own it.
I think if you get rid of all taxes though, then your essentially creating pockets of wealth where people who have money will gather together and have a great police force, fire fighters, etc because they will now front the cost. But then everyone else is just poor living in filth. Ha it just makes me think we will turn into some type of distopia society you see in these “young adult” novels that keep getting turned into movies.
