What kind of plane are y'all getting on, smoothbrain?

The OTSB report

never heard of such a report. Is this similar to a flight plan?

My prediction

This will never happen to any OT Baller's plane.

Book it! 100%.

Now I’ve been nervous about weather and those short hop regional jets.

Yep. Living in LC, every flight out is a regional flight. I jump at the chance if they announce they need to lighten the plane due to weather and offer a voucher.

happened in the Air Force. Changes to give chances that would otherwise have tanked further flight training.

In the Navy, too. See: Kara Hultgreen

You've gotta be shitting me. NTSB is going to break one off in this company's arse.

I without a doubt would get off any plane if I saw this. Even if it was the most inconvenient thing in the world

Got downvoted but I was right all along. Poor decision making and inexperience. It’s really not all that mystifying. These young kids thought they could thread the needle through a nasty storm on a Learjet and it cost them and their passengers their lives. Super unfortunate.

Smart. I was once on a Saab American Eagle flight from DFW to Beaumont, and about 15 minutes into flight we had to turn around for a maintenance issue. Once fixed, I asked pilot if weather was a concern and was told to only expect light chop. Well, 30 minutes later we were in a lightning storm and being tossed all over. Wish the pilot would have leveled with me on that. Those Saabs and ATRs could not climb above some of those storms. Even jets can't climb over some of these super cells, which can get over 50,000 feet high.

I used to ride Cape Air from Boston to Martha’s Vineyard every summer. Twin engine Cessna. Always one pilot for that flight. Hell I even sat in the right hand seat for one ride.

The only time I really was concerned about a single-pilot was taking this bad boy in Fiji to go island hopping because I doubt their standards are the same as the FAA

It was worth it, though

It should be illegal for someone that young to be pilot or copilot on a jet engine aircraft.

Quick, someone tell the Air Force/Navy

Regardless of what kind I’m sure some people on flights are a bit unsettled after seeing this incident on the news and social media as most people probably are uneasy about flying to begin with even though it’s safe.

In Belize going to Belize city to the islands you get on a pretty small plane and one of the passengers sits in the seat next to the pilot

I was, I don't want to say terrified, but I didn't love it.

That company went bankrupt and folded one second after impact.

I would wager there are very few, if any, twenty year old jet pilots in the Air Force or the Navy.

When we were in Belize, we took a bus to some caves, and the bus driver almost killed us like 5 times. Doubt I would be thrilled to fly on a small plane there

My thinking exactly. Hate to say it but it was great until it wasn't. It was great to see these two young pilots doing what they loved and I guess were pretty good at it but no way in hell I get on a plan with two pilots that young. Experience is everything for me in things like flying and surgery with good doctors. Sure these kids may have had difficult situations maybe a few times but until you face real life oh shite I may die I got to stay calm and rationalize this then NO GO for me. These pilots may have had simulations or whatever but real life things happen and you get better and learn from them not I just read this in a book and I know what to do. I am rambling but even in my job experience and the knowledge gained from it goes a long way.

This.

I would be surprised if there are many parts of the plane remaining that are larger than a shoebox.

Dude why? It was a decision - I made it and do not regret it one bit. Of course the flight arrived safely. What’s your point? This is my life, not yours. I’ve done it once in my life and will absolutely do it again if it doesn’t feel right

But you shared it here, on a public message board, so certainly you could assume that people might have questions/comments, no?

Their decisions on which way to deviate make a lot more sense now that we know their age. They got in some bad weather and were screwed due to their inexperience.
