Is anyone on here who is an aviation expert able to tell from the way it fell what the issue was?
Lucky for you, there's an entire internet out there full of constitutional law scholars that also are aviation geniuses, they probably are also excellent marriage counselors too.
That said if the tigerdroppings crew tells you not to buy a truck because it sucks, that's worth paying attention to. I learned that the hard way.

I get that, but my friend's plane is a Cessna Citation CJ2, which is certified for single-pilot operation. He was the only one flying us that day and flew us back a few days later. Thankfully, the return flight was less adventurous.
NOPE
I've been in different sizes and varieties of private planes and never have I gone up with a single pilot. That would terrify me

It's amazing how these longer threads on any topic tuns the ECXACT same way. It starts off the story with some slightly not accurate data, then a few people with actual knowledge of the topic pop in with good related info. Then someone comes with a dumb arse take. The thread gets derailed for several pages as they argue. Next comes those that are too lazy to read the thread and post old outdated info. And the cycle continues until the real information gets out.
Basically the same as any 24 hour News network

It is insulting.
This is why DEI is insulting.
It happened in the Air Force. Changes to give chances that would otherwise have tanked further flight training. Seen it. First hand. And it is insulting. It should insult those who would achieve without it. Who earned it under strict scrutiny. It is insulting that standards built from years of data were changed into flexible 'learning environments' rather than a washout for those on the line.
DEI happened in the aviation industry and it will have a permanence in the industry for decades.

I believe this is the type that was certified for single pilot operation up until about a month ago. Too many accidents led the FAA to revoke single pilot operations.

might partner that guy with a stodgy, checklist following rule follower co-pilot with a lot of boring experience and some real meteorology training. Perfect combo
So this guy with Whip Whitaker.

Some assistant thought they were doing a good job by going with the lowest rate on a charter but now they know why.
It looked good in the photos on Amazon. The price was rock bottom. But when you open the box it's Chinese garbage.
Gotta learn this hard lesson buying weed eater string off Amazon and not booking a Learjet.

Has the OTSB investigators published their report?

Not the CJ, but other older Cessnas
quote:
• The CJ2 is unaffected: The CJ series (including the CJ1, M2, CJ2, CJ3, CJ3+, and CJ4) was originally certified by Cessna as a single-pilot aircraft and retains its single-pilot operations.
• What the FAA actually did: On September 29, 2026, the FAA rescinded single-pilot exemptions for older, legacy transport-category Cessna Citations (such as the Model 500, Citation I, II, S/II, V, Ultra, Bravo, Encore, and Encore+) that normally required a two-pilot crew by type certificate

I had these same exact type pilots just a bit older each recently on a trip from NO to New York. It's something you notice, but on an airliner you'd think they're capable. Never crossed my mind to not take the flight.
Seriously, in my life I’ve never been worried about a pilot on a major airline. Now I’ve been nervous about weather and those short hop regional jets.

Red was angry at the 'DEI strikes again' posts from several people.
Then seemed to discount that DEI is present in the industry as it is elsewhere.
My reply was to this aspect. DEI comments are silly, much like the clot shot comments when things go bad. But, DEI does exist. It is not always the reason. It also cannot always be discounted.

What exactly is your understanding of the turnaround time? Hint, way more than within the first 24 hours.

It's going to be a loooong time.
The plane appears to have vaporized into a crater in the Earth

He's asking for the OTSB report, not the long standing NTSB report.
The OTSB report , if actually published, would have been released before the fatal crash.

I used to ride Cape Air from Boston to Martha’s Vineyard every summer. Twin engine Cessna. Always one pilot for that flight. Hell I even sat in the right hand seat for one ride.
