I would wager there are very few, if any, twenty year old jet pilots in the Air Force or the Navy.

You would be correct.

All jet pilots in the Air Force/Navy are officers, and in order to be an officer you have to have graduated from the Academy or from college and gone to OCS. Plus you have to complete flight school. You ain't doing any of that by age 20.

military pilots are officers, which requires a college degree. So, graduation at 22 and add in flight school and you're looking at 23-25. Warrant officers can fly but typically much older.

In Belize going to Belize city to the islands you get on a pretty small plane and one of the passengers sits in the seat next to the pilot

One time, flying to San Pedro, I remember seeing wrecked plane at end of runway. The same aircraft and shuttle airline I was on. They had flipped the week before, killing a few people. That did give me pause.

Her boyfriend is named Justin and is a pilot, but wasn't on the plane......per the article you linked.

Their decisions on which way to deviate make a lot more sense now. They got in some bad weather and were screwed.

My point exactly probably dealt with alittle of this issue in the past but probably just got above it and it was over. I watch air disasters and I have seen plots get caught off guard due to lightning, hail, turbulence and these are pilots with 1000's of hours of flying struggle. Some make it out and some don't. I can't imagine a 20 and 21 year old pilots getting caught off guard and them panicking in that moment. Prayers to their families. BTW that airline that owned that plane can go ahead and shut their doors forever.

t's amazing how these longer threads on any topic tuns the EXACT same way. It starts off the story with some slightly not accurate data, then a few people with actual knowledge of the topic pop in with good related info. Then someone comes with a dumb arse take. The thread gets derailed for several pages as they argue. Next comes those that are too lazy to read the thread and post old outdated info. And the cycle continues until the real information gets out

Sure- but the oh my god you’re an idiot for doing that is ridiculous.
Nobody knows how you feel about a situation except for yourself. It’s like walking down a street and turning off on a side road because you don’t like the way things look in front of you.

To add to the age of military pilots, my son graduated USNA in May of 2022 at the age of 22. He has been “in training” in Pensacola then Corpus then Kingsville and now Whidbey for four and a half years and just got assigned to his operational fleet squadron last week. He’s 27. There aren’t any 20 year old military pilots.

Go back in time to your 20s and imagine you and your girlfriend working at the same place.

Now imagine that that place is the cockpit of a Learjet with 9 POB.

Got downvoted but I was right all along.

You got downvoted because you confidently ruled out any mechanical failure based on no evidence whatsoever.

This plane crash happened due to only two reasons. 1) the pilots’ poor decision making and 2) in-experience

How did I deduce that? Because many flights were in the air during that time in and around Florida and none of them fell out the sky.

And that extends to most jobs in the military where if you frick up you'll kill people.

Crane operator is one example. Nobody wants to be working under a load that could kill them instantly with some kid at the controls. Crane operator was always the most senior guy.

NTSB is going to break one off in this company's arse.

What “company?” This was a privately owned jet. There’s probably some Delaware LLC that nominally owns it but the guy on it is probably the owner. And I don’t know who in their right mind puts themselves and family on a plane piloted by people barely old enough to drink a beer. But he’s the one who probably hired them so ok. Lots of stupid decisions leading into this “accident.” But likely no one to really blame this on except people who were in the plane.

However if any non-family members were on that plane and the owner had a lot of money, there’s going to be some major litigation.

never heard of such a report. Is this similar to a flight plan?

I think if they were planning to fly, not planning to crash.

It has been declared pilot error?

Flying through a massive storm that covers half of Florida seems like an error.
