So in this accident, because you heard a female voice on the radio, it doesn’t matter that the apparent PIC was male?

Probably trying to verify the flight manifest. Notifying next of kin. All it takes is one relative being out of contact for a delay to happen in releasing it

Yep- I always take a peak into the cockpit when I’m boarding a commercial airliner- looking for gray or white hair usually means you are good. Seeing those 2 when getting on

Yep- this thing is not passing the smell test. Wonder when we will hear the passenger names? I know Lenny Kravitz has a house on Eleuthera - that is a fantastic island if you have never been

There are a lot of rich people in Texas who take jets to the Bahamas. A lot. Most of whom are not household names. I asked a friend in Houston who is one of such if he has heard anything and so far the only rumor trickling out is that there was a mom on board who was a Houston Episcopal High grad.

Yikes. Both under 21? I always thought if you are flying charter or private you are getting at least a high end ex commercial pilot with a ton of experience.

I think that’s a lesson from this crash. If you’re booking a private jet, don’t go with the cheaper company that crews their flights with two young pilots.

I would never fly with such young pilots at the helm.

I agree. I will say she did keep her composure relatively calm for the situation at hand.

Not these days. Private charter is a brutal career to be a pilot. You are gone far more than flying for the major carriers. Meaning it is not attractive to older pilots who have families.

And because the major carriers are not hiring as much. The young pilots are moving into this field biding their time till they get “Picked up” by a carrier.

Not to say there aren’t any great, highly experienced private charter captains. It’s just this particular industry has a higher demand for pilots than supply can maintain.

I just can't imagine that any commercial flight company would allow romantic partners to fly together, much less two relatively inexperienced ones.

I know in commercial, you cannot have have new captain and a new first officer in the flight deck. This rule came about after an incident (crash) where the NTSB discovered that the captain was just promoted from being an FO and the FO was brand new as well. AFAIK these rules don't apply in the charter world.

I can def see a flight company wanting to hire young pilots fresh out of school and their much lower salaries vs greyheads.

We've already seen it with PE buying up mechanical contractors and letting go the seniority in favor of the 22.50/hr employee.

Both under the age of 21! At least that’s what is circulating currently

Yep. And don’t book perhaps what is the cheapest private jet on the market.

22 year old jet worth maybe 600 grand with TikTok pilots. Hell to the no

This is why so many private equity acquisitions fail after the second sale, you cut the knowledge base and skill level every time to decrease cost to make you look more profitable and eventually you have no knowledge base and skills left in the company

Learjet T-tails are susceptible to breaking apart in overspeed conditions. The aircraft certainly broke up. It’s just a matter of when, during the stall or the dive

It’s important to know this was not normal cruising condition. The pilot was reporting moderate turbulence bouncing their aircraft +/-700 feet.

I'm honestly fascinated by how they'll figure this part out:

Did the stabilizer break off at the stall or during the intense, extremely rapid desent? Did they find the horizontal stabilizers yet?

As someone mentioned above, this wasn’t a great gig. It’s fairly likely that a lot of the white males that you think should have been operating this flight didn’t want the job.
