Whoops, thanks for the correction. I couldn't remember it was that climb or this new one.

She gets a lot of shite in the climbing community.
Why?

She started dating the hands down GOAT at climbing and then picked it up herself.

Does she pretend like she's better than she is or something?

well first she dropped him when she was belaying him and he broke his back

but in general its a lot of insufferable climbing groupies, male and female, who are jealous of her.

I can't wait for this documentary. Although they've released so much footage from the climb that I feel like I've probably seen the best parts.

ETA: Hell, is it already available?

It's playing in random theaters right now. I saw it at Perkins Rowe last month

The climbing community isn't as open minded and free of judgement like they think they are.

As I was lowering, we ran out of rope a few meters above the ground and my belayer accidentally let the end of the rope run through her brake hand and belay device.

He's almost as responsible as she is.

He should've done more to protect his own arse.

So how does he get down?

You don’t really have to get down from El Capitan, it’s a boulder face that overlooks Yosemite valley. The other side is relatively flat going out through the trailheads.

Was he not aware of that route before he went up?

The movie "Free Solo" was great. I'd recommend watching it. I had butterflies in my stomach at the movie theater just watching what he was doing.

I watched this in a theater pretty close to El Capitan in Mammoth Lakes. I went with a few rock climbers. One of them was there with his mom- let's just say she was not so happy with her son's decisions to do this kind of stuff!

highly recommended movie though- one of my favorites of the year. and his gf is fire.

His TED talk was interesting. He’s not the greatest public speaker, but learning what all went into that climb was worth the watch.

Accidentally deleted my comment. The crack section was only one segment. I can’t find a good picture to adequately convey how insane of a climb this was. It was almost like glass at some points. He had to rely on pressure almost exclusively from his thumb at one Hold. You would not have made it five feet.
