Have a coworker like this. When I need quote for price and delivery, I get the price but 15 reasons why he can't give me the lead time.

You can't be held accountable for missed delivery date if you never give one.
Our boss is useless for enforcing it.

engineering management surprisingly split. Some love it, some consistently ask for more.

When I get a request to "provide more color" or my favorite one I heard once "more meat and potatoes" my head usually hits the desk.

Missed out on a promotion because of this, as explained by the hiring director. Is what it is. I don't do corporate mumbo jumbo. If I can answer in three words with clarity, that's what I do.

Have you read through the spec books lately? The architects have loaded them up and written them with nearly incoherent verbiage. Just ask your subs/vendors for the submittals that are usually called for in the specs. If any problems arise from there, let the architects and engineers provide more specific specifications so the subs don't have to keep guessing.

but then he would have to read more than a three line email and that’s just too much info for him to digest

I’ve been there. I worked with many retards who can’t make sense of a simple email that contains all relevant information they need to do their job…if they actually know what they should know.

They want to be told what to do and do not like that someone expects them to have at least intermediate knowledge.

So they ask what they view is a simple “black and white” question that people who know the job would never ask. So we try explaining to them that they did not need to even ask the question. We try walking them through their job in a way that no one else needs. They still don’t understand that it is their own stupidity that led them to ask a simple question.

The job may not be for you baw.
