The homeowners would be best off trying to hide the pole by planting some shrubberies around it.

Dude

Yeah some boxwoods will take care of it

I was joking about the shrubberies. You would need a few redwoods to hide that thing.

I wonder if Entergy didn't tell them about it for fears of them trying to get a court order to stop the installation. Entergy would have absolutely won any kind ruling, but it may have caused delays.

I’m calling BS. There is no way dude just left for work one day and Entergy showed up while he was gone and got that entire pole installed. Hell it takes them 2 hours to change a damn lightbulb. That’s not going up in a day.

The pole can definitely go up in a day. They probably didn't connect anything to it yet though. It's digging a hole the day before and then putting it in next day. No one would think a spaceship is going into the ground if entergy is just digging a hole.

And especially if the point, as some other poster mentioned, was to do it while he was away and couldn't stop it.

If they want to work quickly they can, they usually just don't have the motivation to work quickly.

Doug: So, uh, Entergy Customer Service? I'd ike to file a complaint.
Entergy: I understand, sir. frick you. :click:

All in all, that's pretty shitty for ol' Doug. It's not on his property, so there's probably not a lot he can do about it. I'd be pretty pissed too.

but it sounds like Entergy had pretty good reasons for why they couldn't place the pole in other locations.
I've said it on here a hundred times, and I'm telling you people that I've worked with hundreds of electric utilities over the years from fortune 100 companies down to local electric co ops from the gulf coast to the bureacratic hellscapes in the northeast: entergy Louisiana is the worst electric utility I've ever dealt with and there's not a close second. they're awful, and I wouldn't contract with them again if they paid me triple market price. this is par for the course for them. this ridiculous monstrosity and failure to communicate with customers is standard, every day operational behavior from them. if all else fails they'll send some unlucky upstart vendor out to deal with it and threaten them with expulsion from future bids if they don't taken it off their hands. entergy la never has good reasons for doing anything.

I don't think you have to tell anyone in Louisiana that's dealt with utility companies how bad they are

Now Entergy is upgrading the infrastructure and ppl are still bitching.

Get fricked Doug. I'd rather have electricity after a hurricane than worry about your view.

I'd be curious if anything can be done under Title II of the ADA for accessibility because they put that thing right in the middle of the sidewalk. I know major constructions have to take into consideration bringing curb ramps and sidewalks up to ADA code when they do work.

That thing didn’t go up in a day. Where was this guy? Did he miss them pouring the giant base for it? That would have been a clue as to its planned location.
