$3.79 for a quarter pounder meal? Maybe in 1993...

All sandwiches are $1.00 using the app except the double quarter pounder and the signature sandwiches.

It was actually $2.79. QP w cheese $1.00 + med fry $1.79

Knowing where the tip is going might change people’s opinion on tipping takeout orders. When I waited tables in college, tips were generally divided among hostess, waiter, and cook. Hostess and cooks only got a small percentage of the tip, but every waiter tipped them out at the end of the night. That said, I’m curious to know if when you tip on a takeout, does the hostess split that with the cook. After all, he did the lion’s share of the work.

I never tip less than 5 bucks anywhere. My wife and I met while both working at a Ruby Tuesday's. I know what it is like to depend on tips to survive.

I waited tables for about 5 years and it was pretty common for servers to write in their own tips. I never did it myself but I saw it done on many occasions

I don’t tip on to go orders. A tip is based on level of service provided. People seem to forget that.

You packed my food in a plastic bag and handed it to me. Thank you.

We just wonder why you’re such a cheapskate. That’s all. We also wonder why you’re so proud of it.

$2 is pretty much my minimum tip. I think that’s good for a to go order. Especially if it’s a place you may frequent

I agree. Tip the people you frequent that give you great service. You dont want to be a regular that doesnt atleast throw a dollar.

I do tip $1-2 on to go orders but I definitely don’t think it’s necessary. The way it should work is the business should pay their employee a higher hourly wage that works that area bc the business is still making more money.

Anyone knows if the cook at Waffle House gets part of the tip?

My meal is usually $11-13. $3 cash tip.

When I worked at a restaurant twist staff tips were theirs. They may tip out the bus boys if they did a good job that night. But the bus boys made $7-$8 an hour. I never seen the cooks or dish washers get tipped out. My buddy was a cook st that same restaurant and they made decent wages.

No way I’m tipping the hostess for going grab my food out of the kitchen.

I recently picked up a Pizza Hut online order, Zero tip.

To go order for some chinese fried rice, $5. $2 tip. I do go there often. She doesn't even add tax to my order.

just because people like you go around tipping at the mcdonalds drive through window, the grocery store check out lane, and self serve gas stations does not mean its what normal people do or should be expected to do.

it just means you have a strange need to give money away in undeserved situations

It felt weird going to a Jersey Mike Subs one day and after swiping my card it asked if I wanted to tip 10%, 15%, 20%. You're just a sandwich shop, what did I miss?

I'm not leaving anything blank on a receipt. That's just idiotic.

People change tips...it's happened before, and it doesn't take much to find stories of it occurring. All it takes is someone that expects a tip, or maybe a larger tip than you left.

I'm not tipping on a to-go order. And the fact that there are posters in this thread talking about tipping fast food workers just shows how stupid this discussion is. I'm sorry, but putting together my order does not constitute great service, and does not warrant a tip.
