Tons of options in Sales for WFH. I haven’t had a real office in 15 years.

I hate wfh. It’s kills my ambition and makes working just feel like work. That’s specific to my personality type though. I know people that are great at it.

Due to renovations at my company, I worked exclusively from home for about a year and a half until early last year. Now I work what I guess you’d call a hybrid schedule where I’ll go into the office if I have an in-person meeting that day, otherwise I still work from my home office. I’d say I average 1-2 days a week going into the office. Im still not a fan of doing it.

Response of the day! I love it.

I worked remote for the first 2.5 years of my “career”.
This was after 10 years of manual labor jobs. So I’d been in a work setting before, but never an office on a day to day basis.
It’s a tough adjustment. It’s just hard to block out the noise of coworkers and actually focus. At your house you can literally sit there and not have anything disrupt your peripheral. In an office it’s every 10 minutes unless you’re insanely focused on something.
Also, it’s made me realize that I just don’t care to talk to people. There’s some benefit in it, but the shite people want to talk about makes me want to rip my eyeballs out.
There’s also the etiquette adjustment. I have to suppress burps now. Which I don’t have an issue or anything so it’s not a big deal but just little stuff like that you don’t think of.
I will say that being in office you learn a lot more just based on talking to people.
The long commute is the real killer. Especially if you’re actually busy. Because the commute the isn’t just taking up your free time. It’s putting you behind on work. 1-1.5 hours everyday that you could be using to get shite done is out the window. Probably another .5-1 hour as well due to the settling down and ramping back up. It’s actually not productive.

If the boss is spending his time babysitting……there is a problem within that office.

Being around your coworkers in an office simply can't be replaced in terms of value. Unless you waste it, which is what the people who will get triggered by that statement do.

I worked from home for 5 years after Covid. I voluntarily left that job for 100% back in the office. Honestly, it wasn't really a big deal to me. I'd been in an office for 20 years prior to Covid.
Granted, my commute is like 10 minutes and we have a pretty cool office.

WFH is a terrible idea for young people. Idc who you are, your work product only gets you so far. The rest of what you need is relationships and people who can see you’re a good dude/dudette they want to work with.
I’m a little older (40s) and do mostly WFH, but I’m under no impression that it’s better for my career to do so. I just make the tradeoff bc 1) it allows me more time with my young kids, and 2) I’ve progressed to a point in my career where I’d be fine if I had this same job until I retire.
When my kids are all in school then I’ll probably start getting after it again, but for now I’m making the tradeoff.
But again, dumbest thing in the world to do if you’re starting out and trying to get started.

Agreed. With the technology available, we shouldn't have to trudge into the office.
It's inefficient and takes up a lot of time I could be doing my "paperwork" which is no longer on paper.

That’s complete bullshite. Welders have been losing jobs to robots for decades now. Everything is automated.

I hate wfh. Would much much rather be in the office.

Which is nicer? Your home or your office?

Other factors such as retirement, pto, and second job commute is needed.
Based on the info you provided I would do option 2. 1.5 hours a day in the car sounds horrible. Not to mention wear and tear on car and gas should be factored in. Sound like option 1 would also take away family time

This is my thing, commuting takes a long time.
Meetings also take a long time. In my line of work, you have to produce with pencil to paper. Filings that need to happen. Yes sometimes meetings are necessary to make decisions, and I like to talk/chat, but sometimes I’m so consumed by meetings that I can’t get anything done
I’m working to simplify and lighten my workload so I’m only doing things I can take credit and bill for. I’m self employed but get stuck in these salaried employee traps constantly

I dislike WFH so much I paid for my own office for 2 years.
Same here; well I didn't pay for an office. I never worked from home during Covid except for when I had the sniffles and had to self quarantine.
Even today I'll go into a pretty much empty office on Fridays when most are off or working from home.
