Hate that shite. I always feel like team morale is better with WFH. At least in my industry.

It depends on the team and circumstances, for sure. Long commute, "Why the hell am I spending 3 hours of my day just to get here?!" I am struggling with being the "middle man". Trying to understand my employee's needs, while still answering to the boss.

I like being WFH, I do my job and meet my goals. I don’t have to deal with stupid arse office politics or water cooler talk. Way less meetings that should have just been an email. I don’t have to sit in a car 1-2 hours a day. I would work for less money to be WFH. Obviously not every job or every person should be WFH, but I am glad to not deal with the people that need to micromanage others.

Solid argument

Middle management is rough when your uppers don't share the same vision you do. It's part of the reason I left my last job and I'm not looking to get back into it elsewhere.
You try to provide a fun and efficient work environment and they come in and shite all over it because "reasons". They're like pigeons.

I’m 16 years out of school and I’ve only worked in an office for a combined 2 years (non-consecutive).

I'd rather go to the office. Although I wouldn't mind finding something with a shorter commute.

I go to an office once a month for a monthly sales team meeting. Lucky to not have had to do the office routine for 20+ years now.

Mid 40’s and you never had to go into work before?
I’ve done both and personally prefer going in, just feels better for me mentally and physically.

Hybrid with WFH two days/week. I enjoy going into the office, although I can see why people prefer WFH full time, my company does not offer WFH full time, post COVID.

In an office 5 days a week is not only miserable, but incredibly inefficient

I don't know your industry, but in general it's the opposite. I've taken a deep dive on this. Polls, interviews, years of observation. The dynamic is exponentially better when a team works around each other. By a lot.

Returning back to the office is a complete waste of time and resources. Commute, gas money, boring convos at work that take an hour, endless meetings over nothing.
Listening to micromanagers and old women discussing menopause and their mid-life crisis when real work and tasks could actually be getting done at home.

This thread, or a version of this exact same thread- has been beaten to death here, ad nauseum, for the better part of the last 5 or 6 years.. the results are always the same - roughly half of the posters like/love WFH, the other half thinks that WFH is the downfall of society…. It’s usually broken down roughly along generational lines, but not always- im Gen X, but i love WFH and ive been fortunate in my career that, while i cant say that ive *never* had to report to an office, i can say that i was remote before it was trendy, way before the Great Pandemic … . So i havent been to an office in roughly 20 years.. i wish we could avoid the exact same back and forth and just agree on one simple truth- everybody’s different, and not everyone likes the same work environment or thrives in the same work environment.. Anyone who thinks their preferred method is the best/only way for everybody else to do good work is just guilty of lazy thinking- and they probably like spending 10 hours a day in their cubicle while doing about 20 minutes of actual work .

WFH for 6+ years.
Would prefer to be in the office.
No commute is nice and fixing a sandwich for lunch is good.
Otherwise, not a fan.
