How bout exploring a new city? Drive down and tube the Guadeloupe, kayak through downtown, tour the capital, check out some Texas history museams, hike the Barton Creek trail, check out beautiful Lake Travis, or many of the other fun things to discover.

Maybe because it's going to be 102 degrees?

I don't think I've even seen a Shoneys in 20 years, and unless I have to, I don't eat my dinners at chain places when I'm traveling. Most of the country's food is just underwhelming, and there's no way around it

Now if you had said the mid-west, I guess you could have a point.

For real. Midwest food is awful.

I find that the east coast has decent food as long as you stick to Italian or other ethnic foods. East Coast seafood is extremely bland.

Food out west is excellent, even if occasionally a little weird.

I think the big reason Louisiana folks feel the way they do is that they get used to over-salting their food and then their palate is shocked when it comes across food without as much salt and garlic.

i feel really bad for somebody who takes a legit vacation to Austin

other than maybe NYC, I can't think of any city in the US where one could take a "legit vacation" (meaning at least a week)

now if we include surrounding areas, there is plenty to do around Austin and the surrounding Hill country for a week

I was more thinking about Ohio and Minnesota. KC at least has good bbq, but that’s about the last bit of great food until you get to Denver.

I get SEC folk hate the B1G, but this just isn’t true. There’s delicious food all over around Chicago, Milwaukee, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania of different varieties. Cajun food isn’t great there of course, but other types are good. Plus the Midwest has some of the best breweries in the entire country.

Minneapolis has good food too

I would say that most large cities will have good food. Now, smaller towns in those areas probably have shite food, but you can find good food in most larger cities.

That is a somewhat of a pet peeve for mine. Look, people can do whatever they want... Whatever makes them happy, but I do not understand people who go camping at the same few places every year as their vacation.

They pack up all of their shite, which includes pots, pans, etc.. They cook.. And just hang out (I am not talking about camp grounds where they can go hiking or there are things to do, I am talking about campgrounds that have a swimming pool and that's about it. They are just going somewhere else to do what they do every day.

And I don't get people who go to Disney world every year. I know a guy who buy a timeshare from Disney. Now it seems like they go every year just because they have a timeshare. I do think they went on the Disney cruise a few years ago because they get a discount with the time share.

But I can't say anything. I love Las Vegas.. If given the decision to go to LV or somewhere I haven't been, I am going to Las Vegas. I get a high just from being around the excitement. I can be in a sportsbook room and not have a bet on any games being played at that moment, but if something happens where everyone gets excited and cheering, hi-fiving, etc..That gives me a rush.

Or being at a hot craps table. That is exciting. There is just always things going on.

I just got back from a long weekend in D.C. Saw about 50% of what I wanted to see, and that's only because we were hustling on the last day (7.9mi if walking that day). If we weren't going so fast, I could've spent a week there and been comfortable
